I have a young friend who is turning 50 soon. He's a guy who has plenty of firearms & Bows and I'd like to get him a nice carry knife as a gift. He is a "rough & ready" type, no frills and he is a person who understands and appreciates straight up, no bling made-in-America quality. I'm thinking of a budget of about $150.

Ideas & suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks !

Is he "old school"? I only ask if you think he'd appreciate a traditional slip joint, like a Case more then, say, a nice carbon fiber folder? There is always the ol Buck 110. Buck even does custom 110s.

Sounds like he needs a stryker the original 910s can be found for $100. I know because he sounds like me. Tho I have a delica now I like simplistic too. Go on eBay and you can find 910 stryker for bout 100 and it's nice I have a serrated tanto but serrations aren't my thing. Not American made, but maybe the knife gun tool I think it's called the real avid pistol tool.
It'll help if you tell us more such as what rifles does he have and what's his style. Does he like shotguns like an 870 or black synthetic? Does he like old case style knives or new style
Also check out the leatherman mut as well

Might look at a ZT 0200. About as straightforward and no-frills as they come and eminently suitable to a rough-and-ready sort of person.

How about an HK 14715? Very underrated awesome work knife right around $100. I own LOTS of knives, but this is what I use for heavy, dirty chores.

Or a Spyderco PM2. Thing cuts like a lightsaber and the compression lock is excellent. Made in Colorado.

Any rough & ready guy would appreciate an Emerson.... or maybe a Cold Steel.

Benchmade Griptilian, Buck Marksman, and ZT 0566 and the first three that came to my mind for USA made, rugged, no frills folders. The Benchmade Hunt North Fork is another great option if you want to get a robust modern folder with a semi-traditional look.

Max out the budget, BM 908 Stryker
No frills, all knife.
-the 300 ball flipper is a nice option too, more "beef" with a couple frills, but still a no nonsense knife. Probably be my choice in desert sand.
-North Fork if he prefers somewhat smaller knives.

Another option: $100/$50 split
BM Presidio + Case Trapper
Buck Marksman + Buck Lux Avid or stockman
Nice for having options.

maybe he will appreciate a spyderco military or paramilitary, or an hk axis, an axis stryker, original stryker, benchmade 940,
