Hello ya'll,

I wanted to ask the good folks here if you guys have noticed any change in Paypal's Policy with regards to Payments sent and received? Although, personally I use the "gift" option sometimes for transactions with trusted sellers on BF, as the normal I usually encourage and use myself the regular "goods" feature for ultimate in security. However, lately it seems when receiving payments, there is that "Refund" option but no Protection by Paypal due to "services" vs. "goods" so the buyer can still make a claim should he or she receive faulty or non-accurate items. Yet he or she can also make claims with non-faulty and accurate goods and still come out on top because the seller has no recourse or vote in the claim. This was recently confirmed to me via Paypal customer service. Has anyone else notice this weird, surprising occurrence? This is in regards to receiving via "gift" or "services". Is it just the new layout Paypal has since splitting from Ebay or did they create a bigger hole for scammers to jump into? TinA

That is the latest from Paypal. As far as protection is concerned, it's hard to dispute a service vs a material good/item. Who is to say a service was not completed as described in a verbal agreement where one person changed their mind or similar? In terms of purchasing an item, well it either gets there or it doesn't. Much more cut and dry. As far as I am aware, eBay still owns Paypal, since 2002 it has been that way. If you have additional information post it up. The layout in Paypal has changed often, same as the tinkering done on eBay, it can't be left well enough alone.

Thanks RevDevil,

Here is a link to the Ebay/Paypal Split agreement in case anyone is interested......http://update.ebayinc.com/latest-ne...ndependent-publicly-traded-companies-in-2015/

What I am referring to here is goods being sold but buyers sending payments via "goods/services" or other loopholes to bypass protection for their respective sellers.

Thanks for the updated Policy as I will re-read for further examination.

I appreciate the link, it is helpful to keep on top of stuff like this. I don't know that buyer protection is bypassed when using the "Goods/Services" option. It's what I've used and it should include the protection. But as we can see, things sometimes change.
