Anyone check out the new gift tins at the "big box" store? There are three different ones this year. I can`t remember the models, but one has an orange camo lockback, one a liner lock and a small one, and one has a small one and a canoe.

I've pretty much stopped gravitating to the sporting goods section when I'm in that store. There are three local stores within 5 miles of me in different directions and they have only carried a 119 and 110 for so long that I just stopped looking a while back.

My prayers to your granddaughter. The smile on her face in your avatar melts my heart.

Didn't see any in my store today, will check again more closely next time. Could use another canoe if it has handles I like.

A photo of any Holiday Gift Tins you find would help motivate me to trek from out here in the sticks to a big box vendor. Pretty please. THX.

Thank you kindly Armand.

I am now motivated. Now where did I put my car keys...

Speaking of keys, has Buck ever produced a covert knife disguised as a common item such as a key (tool logic has a key knife, with a lockback, for you to see what I'm talking about).

I yearn ...... even LONG for the old days when they had actual metal tins of interesting 110s and 112s at Christmas.

Christmas just ain't what it used to be.

:blue:

Saw the offerings available last night at Walmart. Buck fans, don't feel bad, Gerbers and Kershaws weren't that good either.

I just picked up the canoe, toothpick one tonight..Had no intentions of buying knives, the box just fell in the stroller..Man I hate when that happens but I've been itching for a canoe for a long time.CD

My WM also had a Buck Bantam in two different camo patterns as well as the Paklite large skinner for $20, but not in tins.

Mywallyworls had tons of all the above, as well as a tacticool looking SOG hatchet ,also for 20 bucks. Bought one of those for the car emergency kit.

I usually hold out 'til after Christmas and Walmart knocks the price down to about half. Then I buy as many as I can. Gift them the next year.:)

A local Dicks sporting goods had a few tins of the Boone and Crocket 110. It only shows the knife, with just the black emblem on the blade to set it apart if I recall, for $40. Anyone know if these come with brown leather sheaths instead of black, that alone might interest me...

Picked up the canoe/toothpick set last night. Both knives are quite nice. Fit and finish are excellent, blade alignment is perfect and edges are evenly ground and very sharp. My first canoe pattern of any brand and I like it!

Where are they made? Are they China junk or Made in U.S.A? The canoe and toothpick i was gifted are china made,so i'll never carry or use them because i'm not into China junk. They are not for me.I am with BG-42 it ain't the same as the old gift sets, not even close.

You're not buying an more new Bucks correct, so what does it matter?

Exactly,As i said, they were gifted to me..They are made for the cheap knife buyers,i have several gifted china bucks, the 420 j steel is no good ,it reminds me of franklin mint knives,a decoration.

I'd be into a gift tin 102 Woodsman. ;)

Sorry, but the laminated 'plywood' handles on the canoe are a huge turn-off.

Naww, I can understand that. They aren't cool and high class like the "laminated plywood" handles on the 110's, 112's, 113's, all the Alpha models and the 100 series fixed blades with "cocobola plywood" handles. ;)
