Gift Tins?

Most of my Buck knives have plastic/phenolic handles. At least they aren't pretending. ;)

Is real wood too much to ask for?

Well, Buck quit using "real" wood in most handles about 17 years ago, so crying about it now seems a little much. Most of the "wood" handles offered even in the custom shop are laminates.

And you are right. "Most" of yours look exacly like what they are, plastic.

I'm going to look at my box stores and my Dick's to see if they have one of the 'tin' gift sets, USA made and I'll most likely pick one up. DM

Bottom right is one of those crappy plywood handled canoes from this years gift tin.

I would argue that the resin impregnated laminated woods are more durable and stable dimensionally.
A better performing product, I doubt it's cheaper.

Terrific collection DeSotoSky, beautiful knives and well-displayed. Thank you for the photo. You make the canoe pattern paddle my stroke :)

David, did you go to Dick's? I did and got the 2012 110 with the tin...Have all four years of them now.....

It is the same, but the blade is marked 2012, so if one is collecting a complete set, you need this one too!
