I purchased this knife from a fellow collector who at one time owned 3 different knife shops back in the 1980's. I used to run into this former dealer at various knife shows. At some point he had to sell off most of his personal collection to pay for medical bills which was in about 1997. What this gent told me was that he knew Gil pretty well and was able to get him to make this knife up in 440V with rope file work.

This is a fairly common pattern for Mr. Hibben but not in this steel. I was also told that Gil had a heck of a time adding the rope file work to this 440V blade and he told the person I purchased this knife from that he would never do another knife in 440V with rope file work. Making this a one of. A few years after I purchased the knife I was able to speak with Gil about this knife at a knife show. Gil remembered the knife well and told me he had not made another knife in 440V with rope file work since. He told me it took a whole longer than it would on 440C for example. In fact I don't think Gil has made many knives in 440V now known as S60V. The blade length is 4".

Price dropped to $300
