A genuine custom Gil Hibben is a fine quality knife, however 99 percent of the ones you'll see are probably the designs he licensed off to United Cutlery, made in china of very low grade stainless steel. Pretty much just wallhangers and conversation pieces.
I have a Gil Hibben dagger that I bought about 15 years ago and no matter how I tried I could not get a sharp edge on it. Never had this problem with any other knife. Cheap steel I suppose.
