i was a content electric razor user until a few years back when i got a mach3 turbo sample in the mail. the shave was much closer than the electric and did not irritate my skin like previous safety razors...which was the reason i used an electric for more than 25 years.

i switched to the mach3 power when it came out because it was even easier on my face and probably would have never considered anything else until I received a gillette fusion sample in the mail last week.

the shave was clearly superior to any non-power blade i have ever tried. the blade cartdrige is not compatible (of course) with the mach3 power. i went to the website and saw they have a powered version of it as well

anyone ever try it? like it?

I have one and like it a lot. I turn on the battery and chase my kids around with it making light saber noises. Which doesn't help me shave closer but it does give them something to be pissed off about when they grow up.

I've often raved about the close shave and great overall performance of the Mach3 Turbo. Fantastic product. It works so well for me that I normally just shave in the shower without using a mirror, rarely missing a spot. I can't imagine the Fusion being better but I do plan to try it when I run out of Turbo blades. This Gillette stuff is priced way out of reason, but the tradeoff is that we're getting a fantastic product out of the deal.

i guess you are not a fan of the power versions ;)

i like them as it seems to reduce razor burn...they are silly expensive though so i only get the refills at costco

the buzzing razor might be a good prop for your next video game though

I like the Fusion power when my beard is short (1 or 2 days). When it is longer I use it in the manual mode and it works just fine.

I did a comparison long term review of the Gillette Fusion Power - almost a year ago - when they first came out and were on promotional pricing.

Multi-Blade Razors

in the end I found that it was not that much improvement over my Mach3 Turbo (manual version) - for me.

However noting that you prefered the powered version of the Mach3 Turbo over the manual - and since you like the 5-bladed Fusion manual -
I would hazard a guess that you'll probably like the powered version even more.

i just saw the gillette fusion in the stores the other day, expensive.. and it only came with 2 blades. how much is an 8 or 4pack of blades for the fusion? (compared the regular mach3 if you like)

ive tried the regular mach3 and i liked it, then when the mach3turbo came out i tried that too, it was approx 25% more expensive. it gave the same shave, but only kept a good edge for half as long, so i didnt buy any more of those. i judged this by shaving my head 3 times a week for a long time i could get atleast 2-3 good shaves on a regular mach3.

and now i see they have mach3 with batteries  what are the batteries for?

so how does the fusion compare to a mach3, how many shaves do you get out of one blade? is it more than the mach3 or less?

is the fusion worth the money?

It's expensive for a manual razor, but I cannot get a closer shave, hold a straight razor and skilled user.

unknownVT do you actually get 100or so shaves out of each mach3turbo-blades? goddamn! i get like 2 or 3 with the regular mach3 and 1 (comfortable) with the turbo.

nick i have a str8 but its alot of hassle and it takes alot of time for me (and the longer i go the more irritated my skin gets). i might take it up again towards the summer.

Yep, I do - and potentially even more -
except other parts of the Mach3 Turbo cartridge fall apart first.

For example the comfort strip fell off on my shave last Friday -

Please take a look at Multi-Blade Razors for fuller discussion.

I have since then super-glued it back on - and today's shave felt kind of less smooth - so maybe the blades are on their way out - however I'm pretty sure I'm into at least the high 80's or low 90's - but short of 100.... (all estimates, I don't actually count - but these would be accurate to within say 10%?)

I only have to shave mainly around the mouth and chin, and a few straggling beard hairs around the jaw line - so it is a probably lot less than most average people. However my beard hairs are tough.

I've never shaved my head - and my choice may be different if I did, and obviously how long the blades last may well be different too.
