Giraffe Bone

Over the last while I have been seeing some giraffe bone handles that I have liked. I think I was turned off by all the brightly dyed stuff that looked like hell(to me anyway). Some of the giraffe bone I have seen has been very nice, but for about the same price, I would still usually prefer stag. However, sometimes stag just isn't the right material to go with the style of the knife. In some of those cases, I think giraffe will work very well. It is incredibly tough stuff for a natural material.

Ray Cover has used it in several different colors, this one is a nice example of what can be done with it.

I like the stuff. It's predictable to work with and takes on color well. A lot of collectors don't like it for some reason I've never understood.

I don't consider myself much of a collector, but instead buy knives to use them. I've got a couple of knives with Giraffe bone that I love to use and look at. The material holds up well to everything I have used it for, and still looks like it did the day I received the knife.

In short, I have no problem with any material that serves it's purpose and looks nice. It's actually fairly annoying to me to listen to some of the "high end collectors" around here dismiss anything that is not their favorite as sub-par. Just my .02.

I also read the dealbreakers thread,I don't think I have made a knife that would sell.
Isn't that the great thing about freedom of choice.personally I really like giraffe bone.
