Can someone tell me the advantage/disadvantage of Giraffe bone? Is it generally recently gathered or old?

I am not sure you will be able to distinguish between "Giraffe bone" and "Camel bone". I have worked with both and could not find anything definite. I am not even sure if there is any difference. Or that these bones did belong to a giraffe.
I guess it is all about the size and the thickness of the solid "shell". Nothing special.
 
camel is harder,giraffe is more translucent.Both make great handle material.
