I just concluded on a trade with a very nice individual by the name of Tony2Piece who accepted my offer for his Spyderco S. It is going to be a gift for my girlfriend for Christmas. By giving her this knife that now means she has a better knife than I do. My highest quality knife is a Spyderco Tenacious. Has anyone else had this happen?

not quite, but my girlfriend has a damascus bodice dagger and a Bradburn shobu neck knife with a very nice hamon and cordwrap over same.

course, I got em for her :D

Not currently, but there's time for change. When I first met my GF she wouldn't stay in the same room as a gun and now she keeps a H&K P2000 in her dresser.

Knives could be next!

I have tried to get my wife to carry a knife equal to mine (rotates between grip, para military and military), but she doesn't like the manual opening. She keeps a SOG Twitch XL Tanto clipped to her purse because she likes the assisted opening.

Not only no, but HELL NO. Never gonna happen. That would be like me having a better purse than her. Either would be equally shameful, IMO.

my girlfriend got into knives because of me and when i first got my tenacious i got a catalog with it, she flipped through and found the S and fell in love with the design. I wanted to get it for her so badly i went hunting all over ebay and websites but finally resorted to getting rid of most of my things and knives just to get the S.

id gotten my girlfriend a damascus mcusta some time back and she loves it dearly and loved knowing she had a prettier better quality knife then most men (average men im meaning not ppl like us) and was convinced hers was better then any1 i owned until i bought a new damascus william henry knife that was astonishingly beautiful. she then admitted that that knife was the nicest knife in my collection and nicer then hers. she cant have that one..haha not yet anyways.

as a side note ive realized i love buying knives for her about as much as i love getting them for myself...that may explain her $1000 kitchen set. if she didnt appreciate them the way she does it wouldnt be near as fun but i see her light up when she uses an incredible, ridiculously sharp knife as much as i do so it keeps me adding to her collection as well.

not yet. She does have a ported Glock model 22, which she thinks is hers.

I gave her a Buck Lock back a while ago. A light plastic handled one with a nylon sheath to put in her purse and forget about until she needed to cut something. She forgot about it.

Over 20 years ago, bought my wife a nice little Phill Hartsfield high-grind Kozuka....she still carries and uses it pretty regularly....last time she emptied her bag, she also had an old Gerber LST and an SAK Tinker in there.
Last time I looked, that Kozuka cost more than twice what I paid for it back in The Day....

My wife can carry any knife in the collection, but she sticks to a pink mini grip, Jeff Hall Hellion keychain knife, and a Cold Steel Urban Pal in her purse.

but finally resorted to getting rid of most of my things and knives just to get the S.

Did I miss something about the S? Was this the diamond encrusted solid gold sprint run?:D

Any long term girlfriend I have, I always make sure she has a good knife. Usually better than mine. She's going to keep it forever, mine come and go, get lost or traded. Plus, it makes her feel good and that usually leads to her making me feel good!

my GF has a Coach Purse and a fake SAK in it. she likes my sebenza. hehehehe...

Yeah, that's never gonna happen. She has a nice custom fixed neck knife that she stole from me, but she only cares about the title that it's "hers". She never carries or uses it. I've bought my girlfriend 3 or 4 knives and she just never keeps them on her. There's no way I'd spend more on her knife if she doesn't appreciate them. She only needs a knife that'll work. I'm the one that needs the luxury features on a knife.

My wife used to take my knives to use for any purpose. The last time I found her chipping away at tile grout with my one of my knives, she said: "Oh, the point on that was already broken.." So. I bought her her own pink Endura which has never been out of the box.

I guess that I am lucky in that my wife actually appreciates the knives that I give her. She has some that are just as nice as mine, such as a Buck Custom Shoppe 112 Stag, a couple of other 110s', a rather nice Oak #8 Opinel and an original Imperial hunting knife. In fact, she displays them in the living room.
