Girlfriend Or Wife Have A Better Knife Than You?

My wife loves to whittle and make things so last year I got her a BRKT woodland special and she loves it. It is a very solid knife.
 
My sister loves and uses knives, but never had a really nice one until she proclaimed that every time I get stitches from cutting myself with my own knife, she gets it. She has a few really nice knives now, and appreciates them all. She was ambivalent about cutlery at first, but now has a pretty good understanding that quality is important.

I had a old girlfriend drive me nuts with her specs for a knife although they were not unreasonable.

1. Wood grips.
2. Thin blade
3. Carbon or high grade stainless
4. Between 3 and 4 inches closed
5. Easy to open
6. One or two blades
7. At least the main blade must lock
8. Reasonably cheap (her spec, not mine)

I'll give her credit for knowing exactly what she wanted, and why, but finding all those things in one knife is not an easy job. I wound up cheating on the price some and settling for a steel that was not quite what I would have liked, and got her a Kershaw Doublecross. While not an expensive knife by any means, it's still more expensive than anything I carry. It's working out fine for her as an office knife which is important since she scares the sheep all by herself.

Couple months later, I ran into an Opinel #6 which meets all her specs. Haven't gotten a report back on that, but was tickled to find it. My guess is that it'll become the farm pocketknife while the Kershaw stays an office knife.

My lady appreciates knives, and carries a pink Izula in a ray-skin sheath in her purse. She doesn't have anything nicer than mine because the really nice ones she likes are all customs that are out of my price range! :)

My wife likes my knives, but doesn't really 'get' the need for better/more expensive. She happily carries a Kershaw that I got her, an assisted opener, which is nicer then what most guys carry.
 
Yeah like corwise said, my wife appreciates a nice blade, but definately does not understand my sickness and no her edc is not nicer than mine. What is hilarious though is when we meet her work friends (hospital er) the guys (some LE) tell me about how they have seen her knife and how they are impressed that she actual carries a quality blade. Literally when she walks out to her car at 3:00 am she has the pink griptilian open and ready. I wish I had pictures.

No, I sure don't. I carry the knives, my wife carries the purses. I have a lot of knives, she has a lot of purses. This is the natural order of things.

Athough now that 42 mentions it, I do carry a "tacticool murse" (Maxpedition). But it's not teh ghey, because it has a gun in it. :D Although he's in no positions to cast stones. Last time I saw him, he was carrying one too. With the entire RAT Cutlery catalog hanging off of it.
 
I probably wouldn't have a problem with my girlfriend having a better knife than me, but she absolutely refuses to carry a knife, so at this rate I'll never have to worry about being jealous of her edc blade.

No. My vife uses knifes but have no real interest in them. She likes her EKA 88 the best even if she got more beautiful and high end knifes. If it was not for me she would only own her EKA but be fine with it as its her only real user. By the way she got a SAK waiter I gave her that she always carry in her purce, and a LM micra in her toilet bag. She also has a Hultafors buttoned to her workingpants and a LM kick in the belt of the same workingthrousers. I think she most often finds the solution for her EDC knifeneeds in my pockets. She is a good knifeuser so its no worries lending her the treasures of mine.

My wife carries a pink mini grip, not nicer or more expensive, but for the cost it's a great little cutter.
 
my girlfriend keeps a boker keycom on her car keys. when we travel though she brings her blue plain edged spyderco dodo I got her for valentines some years back or her serrated pink spyderco cricket that was gifted to her by a very generous forumite on the spyderco forum.
those are much nicer and much rarer than anything I carry :)

I even got her mother to carry a knife. she has carried a black frn serrated spyderco cricket for 2 years now all day every day except when she is flying.

Mine likes both... She has some nice Case slip joints, but she doesn't have any early red or green bone :D

I have given her a few vintage Schrade knives which she likes, but the one knife she always has with her is her Kershaw scallion.

She has a few nice early Colt 1911's too. I "gifted" them to her.

So I guess to answer the question, no she doesn't have any knives OR guns that are nicer than mine. Although the 1911's are good because I bought them originally:D
