Girls!!

Bought my ex a pink Leek for Chanukah, not because she is a girl and girls should have pink...but because she asked for a pink Leek. Of course she also want a pink AR and a pink 9mm...lol.

Ah, the girls.. In an effort to make my wife understand my obsession I started by buying one of those purple Vic Classic SDs for her a while back, to relieve the really sad and dull grooming tool in her purse, then later a Byrd FRN Finch.

She *really* likes the Finch and the other day mentioned she was grateful that I made her carry a folder, since it comes in handy for her a lot. She has it in her pocket at work every day.

My devious plan is now to step it up a little, got her a Byrd G10 Robin as a stocking stuffer and put a little paracord tassel on it that I made, I'm sure it will be put on purse-duty, and the Finch will stay in her pocket, but who knows?

Anyone got a good purple handled knife to get my girl? She hates me buying them, and she'll use a knife in the kitchen occasionally, but I'm looking to get her a small something, preferably in purple. Small blade (<2"), and non lethal looking. If I was looking to give here something for SD I'd get her a can 'o mace.

I diddnt mean to hurt your feelers, there T.K.C. I wish every female human could be as enlightened as you and Jill.. Surely you realize that this isn't the case! I don't think that colors define people. Colors are just costumes. Its funny, most of the female friends I have either love pink or hate it. Even stranger, it's the opposite of what you might think... the more "girly" ones are the ones who dislike pink, and the more "punk rock" ones are the ones who almost always have pink on them somewhere. My EX NEVER wore or owned pink, and I was careless to the fact...she did, however, EDC a folder at all times.. with a $100 limit.

Pink also signifies appreciation for Breast Cancer Awareness...which is cool in my Family's Book since my mom is fighting Breast Cancer.

A pink Griptilian would likely be appreciated by my 13yo daughter, but she would not like it as a one and only gift... On the other hand, I bought my Brother's wife a Mini Grip, and opted for blue... she said she'd have preferred black, but was glad I diddn't get the pink one - AND She's kinda punkish.. ..to each their own... Not everything has to make a statement, but people read into it anyway, I guess.

I bought my daughter a "punk rock" Swatch Watch (pink skull & crossbones on it) and a Leatherman Micra this year..

I don't think you hurt anyone's feelings, archieblue.
I grew up around all sorts of knives and firearms. A pink handled knife, or a rifle with a pink stock seems odd to me. (Ruger has a 10/22 now with a pink stock)
To a woman just starting to carry a knife or use a gun it might seem more natural to start with pink and therefore, take a little of the masculine stigma from a traditionally male past time. So nothing is at all is wrong with giving a gal a pink handled knife if it makes her feel more comfortable.

Josh, what if there's a dog clamped on and the pepper spray isn't working and there's no one around? I ask because I'm currently versing my sisters in SD.

My girlfriend wants a CRK Small Sebby. :D

Now that's a female with good taste in knives! :)

I am running around the idea of getting my girlfriend a Doug Ritter Mini RSK Mk1 with the Breast Cancer Awareness handle. Her favorite color isn't pink, but it doesn't take too much to appreciate the nod to the cause! I could go with the original Griptilian, but I enjoy my full-size Mk1 so much that I guess if she wasn't enchanted I could carry it; I'll carry pink to support cancer research.

I offered to get my wife a pink Native and she countered with I want one like that, while pointing to my CF CalyIII:eek: :DShe's got good taste, at least in knives.:p

My wife has a Dragon Fly im thinking about getting her a pink Native. She thinks knifes are sweeeeeeeeeet.

MY wife grew up on a Ranch. She went through college on a
Rodeo scholarship. She goes deer&elk hunting with her father every year.
She is a "crack shot",much better than me!
That being said her favorite knives are:

Spyderco Ed Scott Impala (hunting)
Pro-tech Walter Brend auto w/maple inlays (3" blade)((EDC))
Auto Benchmite (keychain)

I gave her all of these knives, but she likes to try out Knives from my collection too. Lately she has shown an interest in my Benchmade "Axis" Knives!

A knife is generally a very poor self defense option. To be used effectively they require a decent amount of training, and the proximity requirements and sharp edge being closed to the users fingers make them a danger to the user (particularly if not well trained).

For general self defense, pepper spray is usually much more effective, much safer, and a lot less likely to get the user in more trouble. Do you really think the odds of someone having a dog clamped on them while there's no one else around and their pepper spray isn't working are high? That it is a likely scenario?

Only problem is many juristictions are now banning pepperspray, why ban nonleathal defensive weapons i dont know.

Now THAT i a woman with MY kind of taste!! You WILL be getting her a small Sebbie, won't you?:p

Archieblue:
You did not hurt my feelings. I just get ticked at the idea that automatically, if a woman wants a knife, that equals pink!! That frosts my cookies! :grumpy:

What makes men think that all women, like pink knives?! Sheesh. I for one DO NOT like pink.

Here is one of MY favorites:

because 99.99% of women do like pink and 99.99% would not carry a knife like the one you posted.
