Ya'll, I am relatively new to this forum, and to Kershaw knives. But, since coming to this forum I've learned a tremendous amount from everyone here. I've not seen any other manufacturer that has employee's so willing to give of their time and dedication as Kershaw. And, I've really come to enjoy using the few Kershaw knives I've acquired in the past few months(12 total). I like them so much that I decided to give each of my three children a Kershaw for Christmas.

So, to show my appreciation to the good folks here on the forum I've decided to do a give away for the new year. I'm calling this a "Give a Kid a Kershaw for the New Year" give away. What I'd like is for anyone wanting to participate to just post that they have, or know, a kid that they would like to gift a Kershaw to for the new year. Then, on New Years day I'll have one of my kiddo's pick a number from all the posts as the winner. Your first post in the thread is the number that will count. All members are welcome to participate. And, if you enjoy posting pics I enjoy viewing them. So, pics in the posts are sure welcome.

The Kershaw I'm giving away is a Scallion. I have a red or a blue one, winners choice. The Scallions are like new. But, they have no boxes. I will ship the knife first class mail, with insurance and confirmation, to the winner in the continental USA.

Good luck to everyone,

Marty Ley

I'd like to nominate my son....he is only 3, but in the attached pic, he is seen with his Ruger 10/22. I bought it when my wife was pregnant, as soon as i found out we were having a boy. It is unfired, and he is only allowed to handle it with me, and he is learning all the proper safety rules about guns and knives. Up to this point, my wife forbids me from buying him a knife, but if a gift were to arrive, she would have no say in the matter. I could put the knife in the gunsafe with his rifle so when he is old enough, he will already be good to go. As you can see, he is still a little guy, the rifle is taller than he is, but he is enamored by all things "Daddy" he loves to watch me clean guns/sharpen knives/reload ammo. The happiest day of my life was his birth, and the next one will be the first time we go shooting together. I try to justify all my "Toy" purchases to the wife by saying that i am building up the boy's collection, but i don't think i have her fooled.....

Thanks for the generosity, and the chance at winning..

Merry Christmas

Uh oh...unlucky number 1.

It won't be long before you'll have that little fella hunting with you. I have twins that are now 14, and my youngest is 12. They got their first knives at 8, traditionals like the victorinox and case. These Kershaw's will be their first modern type knives.

This is a pic of my wife, with my three kiddo's after a successful hog hunt.

Great giveway. If you don't mind, I'll throw in a new Kershaw (don't know which one yet) to double the fun. You pick the numbers and tell me where to ship it.

This is an awesome giveaway :D

One of my buddies has twin little brothers that are great. Full of energy, kind, just good kids. They're just around that age (12 going on 13) that most might get their "my first knife". It would be awesome to give them one to have for outdoors activities during the coming Spring. They're big fans of airsoft, im sure they could use these some how out in the woods.

Thanks for the chance!

Totally cool Morrow!! Thanks bud!! I consider it an honor to include your knife in the give away.

Please don't count this post as an entry. I'm not in the CONUS, and my little guy isn't even 4 yet.

Cheers on supporting the community and encouraging its growth. I am growing more and more proud to be part of this community everyday.

I always wonder about the 'right' age to introduce knives and guns to my kids. My daughter is 5 and my son is almost 4. For me my dad made me pass my knife and axe badge in scouts.

So count me in?

Can I nominate myself? I am still in high school.

If not, I have a younger friend at 4-H that would be receiving it if I was to win and if his mom approves.

Of course you can nominate yourself. Since you are still in high school I consider you young enough to be a kid for the give away. Both of my oldest kids are freshmen in high school this year. I am glad to see you interested in the world of cutlery. Keep your grades up, stay focused, and prepare early for college. You will be glad you did when it comes time to enter the work force, if you haven't already.

I would nominate my little sister-in-law....I was given permission to buy her a vic classic for christmas to see how responsible she can be with it, a red scallion would fit her well. I mention her because my FIL is getting tired of searching for his old timer, and finding it in her room.....but hey, at least she is using the right tool for the job, and closing it up afterwards.

Thanks for you generosity

My son is 11 and has a couple of traditional knives and SAK's I have given him. I know he would love a Kershaw. I do have a Chive myself and it is a great little knife. Whoever gets it will love it. Great idea for a giveaway. Thanks for doing it.

Bill

My son is five and will probably not get to carry a knife for a couple more years, but every time he looks at my computer he says he wants a ZT0560. Perhaps a Scallion could hold him over until he has $260! :) Please toss me in the hat if you would. Thanks!

I would like to nominate my son Logan or even his brother Dallas. They love all things cutlery and are always making knives out of wood or anything else they can find to take a knife shape. Thank you for the opportunity.

In keeping with your theme I am giving a Kershaw Leek to each of my friends daughters to get them started in the knife craze much the same way that I got their father involved. (to clarify 1 friend 3 daughters) He loves both his Blur and his Leek.

Can I nominate myself too? I'm 13 and have become addicted to knives :)

Yes you can. Looks like our forums may have a few youngsters as members. Thats a good thing! However, I think I had better get parental permission prior to sending a knife to one of our younger, under age members. So, those under aged members that are participating will need to have one of there parents contact me to ensure they have permission to receive a knife. I am really glad to see we have some youngsters participating here on the forums.

I'd like to nominate my neice. She's 7 and loves knives, but only has one (a cheap 25 cent Swiss Army Classic knock-off). I gave her a Cold Steel Canadian Belt Knife, but it ended up as her dad's bait knife. He then said knives are okay, but no fixed blades. A Scallion would be a great size for her.

I'd love to nominate my friend. He's a sophomore in high school, and does not have any good knives to carry. Seriously. Right now, he's carrying a box cutter. He wants a better one, but doesn't have the means for one.

Okay Marty,

Your second knife to giveaway will be a Kershaw Leek 1660OLBLK. This is the Leek with the OD green handle and the black blade. The knife is brand new and still in the box.
