Hey everyone. I think this is my first post on the General board but I've been active on some of the other BF boards for a while. This is such a great site I figured I would give something back and give away one of my little custom knives. I've got a batch in the works and couldn't decide on what to do with the handles on all of them so I'll let you have input on colors and materials used for the handle(I don't have any exotic woods or ivory or anything like that so wouldn't be able to do that but as long as it's reasonable we can work something out).

So here's the deal. I'm posting a pic of 4 different styles of pocket fixed blades that I'm making now and in order to enter you just have to tell me which one you like the best and what your favorite colors/materials for handles are. I like a splash of color in my knives so I'm just curious what others prefer. Which ever blade style you like the best is the one you will get if you win. Pocket sheath will be included.

Here are the blades(O-1) ground and ready for HT(one has been heat treated already). They're still pretty rough right now with a lot of work obviously left to do:

Left to right:
A) Swayback wharncliffe
B) Not sure what I call this yet. Swayback box cutter maybe? Its a sweet little knife though and probably my favorite.
C) Spearpoint with exposed lanyard hole
D) pocket kwaiken- I have not made any of these yet so I don't have any final pics of this one. I do have one in the works with a thunderstorm kevlar and grass herringbone combo that looks really cool.

I'll follow up with another post showing some finished examples of these.

I will choose a winner on Saturday night around 9:00 central.

Thanks and good luck.

***Saturday pm update:

Alright now with 3 hours left I figured I would go ahead and announce the big surprise...

I decided that instead of picking just one winner I would go ahead a select 2 winners to the giveaway. First prize gets the custom knife as outlined in the first post. Second prize gets an awesome Forrest Knives keychain!! Just kidding, the second winner will also get the custom pocket fixed blade of their choice.

Anyone who hasn't entered yet your chances of winning just doubled so go ahead and join in.****

Thank you for the chance, those are some great looking knives!

I like the "Swayback box cutter" in a similar configuration as to what you show in your last photo. I like it when the handle has contrasting material textures like that.

First post ugh I love d) the pocket kwaiken in a handle simalar to the swayback in the second picture. Purple or red spacers. Thank you so much for the chance and the fantasticly generous giveaway

The Wharnie of course :), with scales like you have up in that pic, and red liners instead of blue. The Kwaiken is a close second, with black scales & blue liners.

No question for me. Pocket Kwaiken with dark green micarta scales! Thanks for the give away and beautiful work.

Wow! Outstanding work and a great GAW!
For me it's the "Boxcutter" hands down. It's unique and yet highly functional. Like you, I love a splash or two of color and the finished example you have posted pushes every button for me. The burnt orange?liners are subtle but there, combined with the white and light brown micarta make for a very handsome piece. I'd be proud to carry and use such a toll.
Thank you for your generosity and the eye candy.
Happy Easter to all and to all good luck!

Thanks for the chance. Those are fantastic looking knives.

I prefer the swayback wharncliffe (A). I like the colored liners and the bolster. I think black linen micarta scales, gray G-10 bolster, and red G-10 liners would be perfect.

I think B) could best be called a reverse tanto, but I suppose the blade shape is a little reminiscent of a Stanley knife now that you mention it.

A. Swayback Wharncliffe is my favorite.
(B. is a close second though)

Micarta, g-10 for scales...
Bright green or yellow, with red or orange liners.
Those all look great.... maybe B could be the higonokami special.....

I love the spearpoint and id say green or red g10 or perhaps brown micarta. I love synthetic materials but i also love colors. Thanks for the chance!

The pocket kwaiken is calling my name. I think it would be beautiful with some wood scales. Cocobolo or desert ironwood for example. If picked as a winner, I'll gladly buy the wood for finishing.

Thank you for the chance Aaron, those are great looking knives, esp the Swayback wharncliffe (closely followed by the the pocket kwaiken).
The have classic look with a contemporary touch to them, I love it.
I love to see the Swayback wharncliffe in a thick layer of red micarta outside, with a thin white and then a thin blue G10 liner against the steel.

Thanks for the generous chance.
Goodluck everyone.

Kwaiken! in Thunderstorm kevlar with BRIGHT Blue liners and bolsters for a flow of blue, or thin the kevlar and go with 2x layer of blue liners and no bolsters! (Grass Herringbone always looks fantastic as well)

I say #2 is a Swayback Higo due to the handle looking like a swayback jack and the blade looks like a Higonokami. Looks like a Great combination!

Count me in! Some great looking pieces!

Edit: had to add this, Grass Herringbone with Brass Liners, Brass hardware and Hollow Brass Lanyard tube

Very cool giveaway!! The pocket kwaiken looks great. I agree with Bob that some nice wood would really set it off. Ebony, cocobolo, African blackwood, ironwood, etc would all be great! For synthetics I think a blue handle with red liners would be fun too. Or carbon fiber or the thunderstorm kevlar. Lots of options.

I actually wasn't familiar with a higonokami knife before this thread. I love making knives but i'm not exactly a knife historian. I definitely like the Swayback Higo name. Much better than "box cutter" which just sounds cheap and unsophisticated ;).

Btw, I just ordered some bright blue liners last night with the intention of matching them with the thunderstorm kevlar on either the kwaiken or the newly named swayback higo. I like your style.

A. Swayback Wharncliffe is my favorite although I like them all. Handled in tan thunderstorm kevlar with a lime green liner would be my top preference.

Thanks for the opportunity!

Thanks, you have a nice touch when it comes to putting together parts of knives not often seen before.

I would love either of the 2 if I did just so happen to win. I edited my post to state the kwaiken, but you quoted me prior to tjat so the higo shows in your quote.

I think they both have the possibility to be great carry knives, any chance we could get the dimensions blade/handle lengths?
I just received my first pocket edc fixed blade (JK Knives USK) about 2 weeks ago and I am hooked!

C) Spearpoint with exposed lanyard hole

This is one of my favorites. I like the high grind and the handle shape is simple and looks comfortable. On a knife like this I like stag, or jigged bone covers.
You're doing some great work, thanks for the chance.

I like the the box cutter you have. Black liners and brown canvass micarta would be a nice combination. Thanks for the chance. All of the knives have a great finish as well.
