Hey everyone,

I was cleaning up my shop today and found a bunch of stuff i don't need.

First off, we have some 1095 annealed and i also have a 4x10 piece of 52100 that I can't find but may include it if i can manage to find it.

I also have a blade from my last batch of knives which i believe is 52100 that if perfectly fine but needs to be finished and now that i have a waterjet batch of folders and fixed blades, i don't really want to do it.
Just for fun i also have a 1/2" by 6" piece of Titanium that is probably worth some money but might be fun to forge if you have a forge.
Last but not least, I have some little aluminum corby bolts that i never used but you could try them out.
(all as seen below)

Next up we have two books, one is on folders and the other is by the infamous Wayne goddard, ($50 knife shop) and i'm including some sandpaper just for laughs.

And last but not least, I have some handle material: purple heart, canary wood, rose wood, red wood, yellow heart and some others.

If i find extra stuff to give away I will add it as we go along.

This should be enough to get you started on a knife or two and I would gladly offer to heat treat the 1095 for you but i don't have a forge. If another knife maker with a forge would volunteer to take the HT part I would be much obliged and would even pay for it for the winner of the giveaway.

The only rules i have, you must be a novice knife maker and must have at least 20 posts on blade forums.

I will cover shipping on this but if it goes over $20 i will ask you to pay for half of shipping....(i'm already giving away some pretty expensive stuff)

I will let it run for a week and use a random number generator to pick a winner.

All you have to do is post "i'm in". If you post pictures of your current knives, I will give you two entries.

Have fun with it and lets make some newbies day with all this awesome stuff!!!

I am in! Thanks for the heads up WW, and thanks for the giveaway Harden Knives!

Here's my massive stable so far... (LOL)

I'm in, and thanks for the great GAW.

So far I've only been modifying blades, but I have some steel on order as this is the next logical step.

Thanks!

Very cool projects everyone!!

Keep up the good work and I am trying to come up with some other give away supplies.

im in! unfortunately i don't have any knives yet, but hopefully this will finally push me over the edge to start making some!

I really dont mind if i dont win, i been telling every novice knife maker i know on this board about this awesome GAW, which greatly reduces my chance of winning and i dont care about that because i believe ever novice knife maker should have a chance at it. But i sure do hope the winner really is a novice knife maker and someone who will actually put this stuff to good use.

Im not pointing any fingers at any person in particular, but some people just like to get free stuff. And then there are some of us that could actually use this stuff and put it to good use. Its easy enough to check previous posts to see if someone has ever started a knife or even mentioned making a knife before. It would be such a shame to see this stuff go to someone who never uses it or just wants one item out the lot.

Yeah, I hope not. But I don't want to be a grumpy old asshole and have two pages of rules...

This is real nice of you! I'm in.

I've been making practice knives out of old saw blades, and feel like I'm ready to start using more decent steel. Your gaw would save me a scorn of the Wife, as I've been dumping money everywhere into starting this.

But, my kids did say I'm the coolest Dad in the world when I was "making fire" in the garage, so it's worth it. :)
Thanks for the opportunity!

Haha that's great! Keep up the good work and If you post some pics of your "practice knives" I'll get you a second enrty.

thats a valid point point, and there are definitely people here that could use this stuff more than me. so i am going to withdrawal my entry, good luck everyone!

I'd be happy to enter this one. I have finished one knife, made of 5160, and with files/mini hack saw. No power tools used until I shaped the handle and sharpened it.

I have a big one that has been "in progress" for ever and a day!

Here is the only knife I've finished:

Before I heat treated it in a Hibachi grill and quenched in old synthetic motor oil.

Here it is finished.

just getting started. been collecting tools like a drill press, belt sander, and a scroll saw so far. been making handles and tweeking knives but haven't taken the plunge on a blade yet. i am hoping to get a forge going cause if i going to do this i want it to be made entirely by me. i have been an auto technician for many years so welding and grinding metal into submission is not new. pretty sure i can do this with some good plans and instruction. my hats off to those that have already made their first knives. handmade to me will always be way better than anything bought at a store.
