I would like to purchase a Masters of Defense CQD Mark II with a partially serrated blade. I'm still looking for the right price. I'm sure that there are some other alternatives to this knife. What other small combat style folders are out there worth looking at? Please keep the blade length at 2.5"-3".

Thanks!

Bimmer, I've been carrying the MOD CQDII daily for a few weeks now. Quite honestly, I see no alternatives.

You can check my review of it here: http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum44/HTML/000004.html , and along with the review you'll find a few comparison pix.
Sure, there may be plenty of alternatives out there, but I can't think of anything that can beat this knife within it's size class. This is one high-quality stout little tactical and I couldn't be more pleased with it. If you decide upon one, I doubt that you'll be anything less than completely impressed. Good luck with your decision.
BTW, the blade length on the CQDII comes in at 3.3 inches.

Well, using the 3.3" limit of the blade you're considering: Spyderco Wegner Jr.; BM 705; BM mini-AFCK; CRKT Wasp; REKAT Carnivore Cub; small CRKT KFF.

All these, and I'm sure several others are in the category about which you inquired. Imagine some folks would recommend the Spyderco Delica as well, maybe other Spydies. Timberline small Wortac? The EDC in 154-CM? The smaller Outdoor Edge/Edge Tech Impulse?

I'd probably agree that the CQD is the most tactical-looking knife of the bunch, and I hear good things about the overall quality of the brand. But, the EDC, Carnie Cub and the 705 have better locks.

Have fun!

What about the MOD Hornet or tempest, you should be able to find these quite a bit less expensive.
Also check out 1stop knife shop's current sale for a mini-Socom
