BladeForums has provided me with a very rewarding experience and I'm grateful to all for sharing your time, knowledge and generosity with me. Its my turn to give something back. I chose something that is meaningful to me and also reflects my level of gratitude for the friends I've met here, a #77 Barlow with wharncliffe and clip blades in African Blackwood.

During my time here at The Porch I've seen several giveaways take place. Each one unique and exciting to watch. Today I would like to offer the community my first giveaway, one with a slight twist. I'm asking each of you to take a moment to think about a member here at BF that has been generous to you, positively impacted or influenced you, or someone you just feel deserves to win this knife then write their name (screen name here on BF so I can find them later) down below as your nominee. If more than one member nominates the same individual thats great! it increases their odds of winning.

No real rules, perhaps keep your nomination limited to a recently active member and one that would appreciate and use or carry a traditional knife. Thats it. This GAW will run for two weeks, afterwards I'll pick the winner via a random number generator. This should allow the lucky winner to start 2017 off with a bang! Good luck to all and thank you for your help in recognizing and acknowledging your fellow members this Christmas season.

LNIT GEC #771214 African Blackwood with wax paper. Unsharpened and never carried by me although I'm the second owner it comes razor sharp, excellent fit and finish, simply gorgeous in my view.

***I received a question about the number of nominees one can provide. I don't want to put a number or ceiling on it but if you can't choose between several members, go ahead and post their names in separate replies but please keep it to a number you deem reasonable***

I'd like to nominate Jared Oeser.

He was the member that got me into traditional knives.

He and I met in person because of an interest in Busse knives (about as non traditional as you can get). He suggested I come spend some time in the traditional sub forum. He now makes some of the finest traditional custom folders!

I owned one of his custom made designs, as far as I know, the only one in that pattern/size blade configuration. In a moment of fiscal responsibility and concern (closing on a house, Christmas time with two boys) I sold it.

I'll get another some day, but till then I'll enjoy my GEC folders....

Thank you for the giveaway. That's a fantastic pattern, in perfect materials! Some one is going to be tickled pink!

Good grief, there are several here that have had and continue to have a positive influence on me. Several here are worthy of praise and several here have been generous beyond measure to not only me, but others.

Paulhilborn - A true cornerstone to the porch imo and a guy I'd drive across the country for if he needed it.

I'd like to nominate Randy (rredden). I have found Randy to be extremely generous to other members, and also very thoughtful and caring. Even with his own personal health issues to deal with, he seems to be focused on others' well being. Getting to know him just a little has made me a better person.

I'd like to nominate Chin (Cambertree). He's been pretty informative in the hunting thread and he will definitely carry and use this knife. No need to worry about it being put away!

(*I'll pitch in the shipping cost since he lives overseas)

GuestWho101 - I received not only a gift of a knife from him, but friendship. Nothing like getting a message out of the blue that makes you smile. Thanks, Dee!

Very cool giveaway! I have more than one member to nominate but I'll stretch it out over a few days.

Paulhilborn - A true gentleman and a man of the finest sort.

I'd like to nominate Rockon75. He helped me with my quest for a Tuna Valley Gunstock. Not only that, he does a lot of good in the community!

Since you can nominate more than one, I'd like to nominate Arathol and 5K Qs. My 1st thread in the Trad forum was on the muskrat pattern and Arathol posted photos to get it going. 5K Qs showed the Blac-Jacket, a variation of the Yello-Jaket.

This is a great idea for a giveaway, JITDC, thank you. I want to nominate r redden. I was just remembering the other day it's been just about a year since he organized that amazing, complicated giveaway/fundraising thread for Bob. Awe inspiring.

I'm going to nominate -WhittlinAway.

He was very generous and gracious with a knife I've always wanted and has been a good source of wood carving knowledge.

Great idea for a GAW.

I'll nominate Tod (btmccutcheon). I met him and his lovely lady Donna at the Arkansas knife show in Little Rock back in Feb 2015 (along with Chris Montgomery). It was a nice visit and I really haven't met any other knife nuts in person, so it was good to have a kindred spirit to geek out with.

It was tough to narrow it down - so many worthy people here.

Happy to see the response so far! Can't wait to see more and hear all the great stories!

This is quite the GAW.... thank you!
I'd like to nominate GUSNUTS.... I owe him for introducing me to the world of traditional knives such as this beauty!
Greatly appreciated, take care!

I would like to nominate r8shell 👍
During the summer I had posted about a Barlow being given to me that I thought was going to be an imperial jackmaster , but when it turned out to be a Chinese copy she generously offered to send me a real imperial Barlow
This Barlow really got me into carrying traditionals, and before this I had carried my buck 110 every once in a while but never dreamed I'd feel comfortable using a non locking blade.
There's always great things said, and never a meaningless post from r8shell.

A very nice gesture here, thank you JITDC.

I'd like to nominate 5KQs. I've met a lot of great folks in my short time here but none that has done more to make everyone feel comfortable, pull up a chair and sit a spell. He takes the time to respond to every comment and to offer a kind word to all ( even us new guys) and honestly one of the reasons I hung around long enough to feel I belonged.
