Giveaway #77 Barlow! Nominate your fellow BF Members!

BladeForums has provided me with a very rewarding experience and I'm grateful to all for sharing your time, knowledge and generosity with me. Its my turn to give something back. I chose something that is meaningful to me and also reflects my level of gratitude for the friends I've met here, a #77 Barlow with wharncliffe and clip blades in African Blackwood.

During my time here at The Porch I've seen several giveaways take place. Each one unique and exciting to watch. Today I would like to offer the community my first giveaway, one with a slight twist. I'm asking each of you to take a moment to think about a member here at BF that has been generous to you, positively impacted or influenced you, or someone you just feel deserves to win this knife then write their name (screen name here on BF so I can find them later) down below as your nominee. If more than one member nominates the same individual thats great! it increases their odds of winning.

No real rules, perhaps keep your nomination limited to a recently active member and one that would appreciate and use or carry a traditional knife. Thats it. This GAW will run for two weeks, afterwards I'll pick the winner via a random number generator. This should allow the lucky winner to start 2017 off with a bang! Good luck to all and thank you for your help in recognizing and acknowledging your fellow members this Christmas season.

LNIT GEC #771214 African Blackwood with wax paper. Unsharpened and never carried by me although I'm the second owner it comes razor sharp, excellent fit and finish, simply gorgeous in my view.

***I received a question about the number of nominees one can provide. I don't want to put a number or ceiling on it but if you can't choose between several members, go ahead and post their names in separate replies but please keep it to a number you deem reasonable***

What a gentleman, some lucky guy will be blown away by your generosity [emoji106]

I woke up this morning to find myself nominated for being a good guy. Thank you Mark (Ramrodmb). I don't know what to say because I was taught growing up that generosity is its own reward. There are so many here that have befriended me that it wouldn't be fair to single out one person. If I am so fortunate to win this GAW it will be passed on to a worthy forumite. HAPPY HOLIDAYS. Thanks again, Mark.

Just read we are allowed to post more than once.

Rockon75 - A friend that deserves mention and an entry. His schedule tires me just thinking of it yet he finds ways of reaching those here. He certainly has done a lot for me.

Nice idea! I would like to nominate mrknives- a very generous and helpful member of our group:)

If I may, I'd like to nominate silenthunterstudios, who has kindly answered questions I've had and also inducted me into the Cult of the Peanut after I'd won his GAW of a Camillus single-blade 'nut.

And one more nomination... hickory n steel, who has bestowed upon me my one and only Rough Rider, a hawkbill, in yet another GAW.

I would be remiss if I didn't add Railsplitter to this list. Rick was the first of the porch dwellers to say hello and welcome me in. He's a real stand up guy I think of as a friend.

I'm going with jc57 and NJBillK. jc57 has answered more than a few questions for me and NJBillK did quite a bit of research for me regarding a GEC 72 that was greatly appreciated. Everyone here is extremely nice and helpful, but these two gentleman get my nod.

What a cool GAW idea.

I'd like to nominate Gary Graley. A very generous member of the porch.

WOW, such a neat idea here:cool: being mentioned is a humbling experience and a thank you for those kind mentions. My mind spins as there are so MANY that can be named, and I mean many!!!

I don't want this to be taken wrong but know my intentions are sincere. If (and I'm sure I will) I fail to mention some member I will apologize now. On the porch generosity is the norm, not the exception. There is generosity between members then generosity to the form itself. I will harken back to my early for nominating my first member. So here goes.

So here is my nomination, mister Duncan Morgan:

Campbellclanman aka Duncan, passion, sincerity, kindness just begin to describe this man. He only posts in a few threads but the ones he does post in are a pleasure to read. WARNING: if you befriend this man he will fly across the world to come visit you:D which, by the way, I am so thankful for:)

That said, I'm not sure I'm following the rules here but my other mentions would be...this is beyond tough:o

Waynorth, mister Charlie Campagna. The man has made dreams come true for so many. One on one gifting and gifting to this and other forums and the traditional knife community.

Man, this list can go on and on, there are so many stories I can recall of the kindness I've received and the kindness I've seen bestowed on others.

Jack Black, this man personally finds out the recipients interests and goes in search of to fulfill that members list. In addition are wonderful items, coins, post cards, other trinkets and bobbles. I treasure his handwritten notes.

Markesharp, Mark had five "thank you" threads at one time as his generosity overfloweth.

I apologise now for condensing but this list can contain so MANY MANY OTHERS. r redden/Randy, Bigbiscuit/Bob, RDaneel/Dean, Stitch2442/Pete, Doug Add/Doug, Primble/Rob, singin50/Barry, jone/Jennifer, KBA/Brett, mrknife/Jack, Gevonovich/Gev, Half/Stop, Ron, arizonaranchman/Jeff, thales 2015/David, harronek/Ken, Ryouchijtx/Tim.

What a giveaway. This one has really warmed my heart. When you see friends put your name forward, it really reinforces the fact that this isn't just a cyber café'. We are developing real friendships here. I have some nominations of my own, and here they are:

There are too many on this site that have been absolutely wonderful to me regarding my knife usage, and some collecting, but I want to recognize those individuals that have really helped me out repeatedly.

Many have gifted me knives and such. Thank you, and I honor you with this picture:

Additional thanks to Bozak who volunteered a Remington Boy Scout Knife to be used as a gift to a Cub Scout in the Pack that I run.
A special thank you goes out to Sketch32. He has been working with me for over a year re: a certain type of knife that I do collect (I'm mostly a user). Without his patience, and help, it would not have come to fruition.
To Gary Graley, many thanks. This gentleman volunteered his sharpening expertise without out question. That turned into him gifting myself and my Dad some knife boxes and one sharp knife that I could not get an edge on. Above and beyond, Gary.

Now, there are two members that I must say are true friends. These are guys that if they said they needed something, I would figure a way to get it done. You know what I mean? These two have been very, very generous to me in many ways and on many levels.

KBA-Brett, my friend
and
RMA 100-Bob Andrews, my friend

Not to slight Brett, but I need to say something about Bob. He excited me about GEC. He worked with me very closely and taught me a thing or two. I'm mad he didn't tell me how sick he was. I'd have driven to see him, help him, whatever he needed. I haven't bought a new production run since he passed. Most all mine came from Bob on a regular basis. I saw the new boy's knives, I would have typically bought a couple from Bob, I bought none. I think I relate old Bob to any GEC purchase and it hurts. I miss him. I'll end my rant with this. A couple of days AFTER his passing, this knife arrived at my house. I can't help but think he made sure this knife made it to me during his last hours/days, or perhaps he made a list for someone to follow through. Can you believe that? If Bob wins this GAW, I will initiate another giveaway with HIS knife to raise money for cancer research.

My thanks to you all,
Josh

Another nomination: 5K Qs aka GT. In the Totin' thread, he makes me and everyone feel special by having a comment when we post our knives! Thanks, Gary!

Wow, what a cool giveaway. It's another reminder of what a great porch is. I'm amazed at the generosity and good will here.

I'd certainly second the nominations for Paul. He's been extraordinarily welcoming to me. Since he's well represented here, though, I'd like to nominate Colin (Wilted Kilt). He's a good man. Even though it isn't a whittler, I'm thinking he could squeeze that beautiful Barlow into his collection. :)

Josh, whether I win or not, please contact me about a GAW to help with cancer research. ANYTHING I can do to help. I've lost family members and if not for advances I wouldn't be here. To do it in Bob's name would honor a good man.

Fantastic idea and very generous GAW. I'd like to nominate : eschwebach

Erik has always been a good friend, a very generous member, and his pics have definitely helped to move my interest from modern knives over to traditional slipjoints.
