It seems like you can’t walk more than a few steps in this forum without running into a giveaway. That’s one of the things that makes this place so enjoyable to be a part of – a generous spirit. So guess what…here’s another one.

The knife is an Ulster TL-29. I picked it up at the Brimfield Antique Fair a few months back. It can be tuned up a bit for carry and use or just be part of a collection. Either way, I’m hoping it will find a good home.

A winner has been chosen - klineh. Thanks everyone for entering.

The knife blade is full and in good shape but would need to be sharpened. There is some wobble on the knife blade and the screwdriver. The screwdriver also has some vertical play against the lock. Both blades walk & talk nicely. To my knowledge the stamp indicates the knife is from after Ulster was bought out by Albert Baer in 1941. Past that I can’t tell you anything else but if someone has a more specific estimate on age please feel free to chime in.

> What do you have to do to enter? Not much really. Just say you're in and, if you wish, talk about or post a picture of your favorite example of a TL-29/electrician's knife.

> Who is eligible? Any registered forum member with at least 25 posts here in the Traditional section as of the time this thread was started. I will ship anywhere in the world but please know I cannot be responsible for any duties levied or actions taken by customs in another country related to importation of the knife.

Winner will be chosen by random number generator. One entry per person, your post number is your entry number. If you happen to post more than once your first post in the thread is the one that counts. Entries will be taken from now until 12:00 PM ET on Friday August 16th, 2013.

Okay, I guess that’s it. Fire away. :)

Great knife Nate, and thanks very much for doing this. Pete (Stich) sent me a TL-29 a few months back, and I'm very happy with it, so I'll pass on this if you don't mind, let someone else have a better chance of experiencing this great pattern. Good luck everyone :)

Oh Boy!! I would love to have the opportunity to win a TL 29. Thanks very much. Thought I would post a pic. for fun

I won't pass up on a chance to win one of these classic designs! I just recently got my first one in... it was made by camillus in... I wouldn't know :)

It's obviously the one in the bottom ;-)

In! Thanks for the giveaway.

I was looking at a double handful of these at a knife dealers shop. He had more in the back, but I had already spent my birthday money (overspent is more like it).

I was on vacation. Next time I am down his way, I will have him get some of the better ones out of the back to peruse.

I am a fan of the pattern.

**not an entry** Awesome giveaway! the tl-29 is a classic.. I regularly carry and use my tl.

Count me in! A close friend of mine was an electrician. I gave him a knife similar to this but he never used it. He said his magic Buck worked just fine. The magic was because the first time he tried to use it on a screw the blade turned itself into a screwdriver!

Some things are purpose built for a job and some just get that way by other means. ;)

I'm in. Thanks.

Is the TL-29 model the military designation for this knife? I've always heard them referred to as TL-29s. I was issued my first one in the Navy back in the mid 70s. I remember it having some kind of hard black plastic scales. I once had the screwdriver blade fold up on my hand while I was abusing it. Wore that scar for many years. That Ulster looks like it spent many years knocking around in a tool box, more wear on the scales tan on the blade. Those wood scales tell a better story than the plastic scale versions.

My dad had a tl-29 from the 70s, it's mine now, it has the (bakelight?) scales too.

Not an entry, just a happy memory.

Here's a pic of my favorite TL-29, which I recently gifted away to a forum friend. It's a Robeson which was rescued from a flea market bin.
Such a beauty you are offering here, very generous of you jujigatame! I would love to have this one to admire for a while. Thanks for the awesome GAW:thumbup:

Great looking knife and thanks for the generosity!! Not an entry for me as I don't know that I would carry it enough then I would feel guilty. :)

Not an entry.

Great knife! Looks rugged as all get out. I've always wondered how strong the pivot area is on these. They'd have to be pretty strong I'd reckon.

I would love a chance to win that classic blade post a picture when I get to a computer. Thanks for the chance

Knives like these evoke a strong reaction of recognition from me, but I've not yet been able to pinpoint why. Someone I knew must have used one, just as part of life, and I noticed without noticing.

I'm in, thanks. :)
