*GIVEAWAY* How about a TL-29...>> Winner is klineh <<

I would be glad to give that knife a good home. :) I was looking for TL-29's the other day when one of my co-workers at the harbormaster's office had an Imperial Ireland one with the black plastic scales and yellow plastic shield. Thanks for the chance

Im in. Thank you for doing this. Ok...I'm out. I didn't have 25 post when it started.:(

Not an entry, I enjoy far to many and would like someone else to have the fun, besides as you'll see I've had far too much TL-29 kindness here on BF,

To begin one of my favorites is the one gifted to me by sitflyer, but since he already posted a picture of it here i thought I'd go another route

Schrade walden in ebony, one where you press the closed knife down to disengage the lockback on the screw driver,

Honestly thought I have a soft spot for all of 'em.

Another two gift to me by John of JK knives:

The one on the left in the next picture is an EMPIRE knife, picked up on the exchange, pretty cool

three camillus versions

love the work done on the stag example, it's all after market even the bolsters

I like the walnut on this case example to!

anyway, thanks and good luck everyone!

Nice stuff, thanks for posting it. That Empire is very cool. Weren't those known as radio knives?

Thanks, I haven't heard that before but it sounds good, I'll have too look it up, a number of things I have to look up I'm afraid, it's long list :)

I'm in, thanks. haven't been too active lately as I get to tempted to buy knives that I do not need and that my budget no longer allows. the one knife I am missing is a nice, old knife with some heritage, and I have always been interested in electrician's knives. the old knives I have found in person either appear to be massively over priced, or not in serviceable condition (and I only buy knives to carry), or both... also,I am wary of buying old ones online without holding them first.

Putting my name in the hat!
I was an electrician in the Navy, and the TL-29 was a standard issue knife on board the ship. Cut lots of insulation and electrical tape while working on various systems and of course the shore power cables and their giant fuses. Don't know what happened to that knife, but wish I still had it. Thanks for the opportunity.

Blessings,

Omar

Well, curiosity got the best of me so I looked it up. I'm sure there's more out there to be read but just for starters I found this from Blade's Guide to Knives & Their Values, published 2005, page 174.

"A few variations on the two TL-29 patterns have been offered for sale. Signal-Corps-size knives with just a screwdriver-wirestripper blade were made in the 1920s. These 'Radio Knives' have a back lock."

One item crossed off your list.

 Right On, I'm in. Your knife has a lot of character, character that it probably earned honestly. My own father, a veteran of WWII and Korea, still has a knife that is identical. While he has not told me about it, he was in the Army Combat Engineers during the Korean conflict, then stayed in the Army until he retired. I don't know if he obtained the knife in WWII in the Pacific, during Korean War service or as he served as a Post Engineer in West Germany, but I know the knife is still hanging on a pegboard in his home in California.

Dad was a farm boy from Wisconsin, so his keeping the knife for such a long time indicate that the knife and this pattern must be useful.

I'm in. Here's a pic my favorite. It was a Camullis TL-29 until I converted to a single blade jack knife.

Really not sure why it took me a week to enter... I'm in thanks! Still have yet to handle a TL-29 and would love the opportunity!
Thanks much for the opportunity!

Not an entry, as I have one that belonged to my grandfather, but it's very kind of you to do this.

Is the TL-29 model the military designation for this knife? I've always heard them referred to as TL-29s.

If I remember correctly, it stands for "Tool, Lineman's" and I'm not sure what the "29", designated, other than maybe a military part #.

Some of the TL-29's were issued with a leather belt holster (#CS-34) and a pair of pliers (#TL-13A). I think the knife alone was issued much more often than the whole kit.

I'm in!
I bought one of these a while ago and it is DESTROYED.
It was cheap... (I didnt destroy it, it came that way)
It;s very rusty and the blades are screwed up. It would be nice to have one in better shape.

Put me into the hat, please.
This knife looks like a real user during many years in the past... and i'm shure, she will do it for many years in the future as well... after a good cleanup and some drops of oil.
I love "old girls" like your GA, because of the interesting "stories" they can tell!
