Edit- The knife arrived, see update below.

Hey guys,

Honestly I'm fine with a giveaway knife never arriving. I'd feel like a total douche contacting the guy and asking about it. The only reason why I'd consider it is because he might like to know that it got lost in transit (if it shipped).

What would you do? I'm pretty sure I'll just let it go. :)

I'd let him know. If he sent it via Priority mail, then he has automatic $50 insurance. If it was my GAW, I'd have no problem with someone contacting me to let me know that my knife didn't get there.

Since the person is liable or likely to see this, you should have just contacted him directly first to see if he could shed any light on the matter.

Most folks that run giveaways want the knife or prize to be received by the winner in a timely fashion.

(There have been a very few instances where the giver was a fraud and they have been shown the door after showing their true colors. I would not make that presumption, however, absent substantial evidence of that lack of character.)

I would just communicate with the sender to let them know that it never showed up. Like you I would not expect any replacement or anything at all but I would certainly want to know if something I shipped never showed up.

I sure would want to know if someone won a giveaway I ran didn't get what I shipped. Still waiting on a winner from one of mine I assume they got it but not a word.

No tracking number? Wouldn't hurt to PM him and just inform him that it was not received. I've had to write guys before and ask whether they got the "give-away" hundred-dollar folder or not.
I've been had very few times...NIB knives that "aren't" and that sort of thing. It's upsetting when they play dumb on something obvious...maybe they aren't playing...
If you are here long enough, you'll get hurt sooner or later..."human nature" being what it is...
But, there's a whole bunch of good guys here also, and that makes it a lot easier. I've got a lot of good friends here.

I am the offending member here. I take full responsibility for the packages not getting sent yet, and appologize to all three winners for not letting them know about the delay. Excuses aren't their problem, so I simply apologize. The packages are actually at the table wrapped and ready to ship tomorrow during a work break.

Strigamort, thank you for starting the thread, I should have been more up front on this, and believe in being transparent. I hope the knives are worth the wait. I apologize again.

Kris, I thought there was a chance you might see this, but it wasn't my intention to be passive aggressive.

I should have just contacted you directly, but I felt embarrassed to do that. :( Thanks for being so gracious.

I offer knives and related items to members here all the time and I try to ship quickly, but it doesn't always go smoothly.

Thanks for your comments guys. I know that some people can be very unreliable, I've found my share, but I never once doubted Kris. I don't think we've talked directly, but I have seen him on the boards for a very long time.

Now ship my knife! :D

I keed I keed, take your time my friend.

That's too bad Rich.

You should know that Jerry cherishes the congress that you gifted to him immensely. He doesn't carry it much at work (we work around a lot of corrosive substances), but I've spotted it on him outside of the factory, and I know it touched him to receive it.

Glad Jerry likes it and I'm glad you let me know when you received it my friend . The giveaway I was talking about was after that one I treat stuff I give away like it was a trade or a sale force of habit can't help it :D.

The irony is that Kris has been on the wrong end of an unfulfilled giveaway in the past and the particular miscreant that didn't follow through in that instance was banned (for multiple reasons) by moi.

As the old song says: "The music goes round and round...and it comes out here."

Funny how things work.

The irony/shame of it all was not lost on me either. The packages are now in the hands of the postal workers, they told me to expect about 5 business days with the Christmas rush. I apologize again and hope they reach their end users well. I will send tracking this evening after I get home from my next appointment.

The knife arrived today. Let me just say that I've never had a package arrive as well packaged as this. Going by the recommended guidelines for how best to package a knife for shipment, Kris hit every bullet point. :)

I'll make a separate thread in the Traditional forum for the knife, but I wanted to update this thread and say thanks to all for your opinions.

Also, a special thanks to Kris. Air mail wasn't necessary, and neither were the extras you threw in. I really appreciate your generosity, as well as the heartfelt letter.

I am glad you like it my friend. I think it is the first knife that I have modified that I passed on to another, I was a bit worried that you wouldn't care for them. Enjoy and I hope it has a long life with you!
