I was recently in a tools store and they had those little Leatherman aluminum handle knives on sale, so I bought one. Since I already have a decent knife I figured that I would give it to my fiance since she often borrows my knife for opening things. She didn't seem to receptive of it and couldn't believe that I gave it to her. But last night she was trying to open a box up unsuccessfully so I told her to get the knife I bought her and use it. So she did, I think she will come around and eventually become a regular user :) Was wondering if anyone else shares their knifeknut passion with a spouse and is your spouse receptive to this passion?

my wife came around after a year or so, and in the end took possession of my favorite small busse knife wich she carries in her big pink purse....

Mine is more than receptive - she's permanently "borrowed" a few:) Still asks me to loan her one if I'm close, though. I kinda think it's a "test" to see if I've bought a new one recently:p She was doing some quilting no too long ago and asked for a small knife to cut some threading - loaned her my Dragonfly - it took a bit of pursuading to get it back:) I'm thinking I should get her something like a Cricket.......

My wife has "borrowed" several of my knives but my daughter is the one that is turning into a knifenut.

And my daughter as well. My wife has NO interest at all, but my 12 year old daughter has started a small collection of her own, and is already learning the nomenclature. Makes me proud.

My wife likes the red G-10 Busse Game Warden.

Thanks to another forum member, she should get her own tomorrow.

Dont forget Lorena Bobbitt! Giving knives to women can have serious side effects!

hehe... just kidding Ladies. (backs away slowly)

Any photos of her 'starter' collection?

My wife enjoys knives quite a bit, and she is very supportive of my hobby.
And she carries her waved Endura 4 everyday.

Of course, she is not your average gal....
She was a Combat Medic in the 101st Airborne Division, and is a Gulf War vet like myself.
In fact, we met in the 101st.

What can I say....there's just something sexy about a woman with an assault rifle!:D

my wife is not a knifenut but she does have a couple of her own.a boker and a northwoods willow leaf, she says loves them both.

Ha - I'm getting my girlfriend a CRKT B.U.L.L. for valentines day tomorrow, ironic that this thread came up. She's also "borrowed" a few junk lockbacks (imitation buck, sabre etc.) I looked through a few catalogues w/ her to see what she liked, and when I brought up the spyderco catalogue she said "I don't like that ugly hole. What's it for? Why isn't there a nice stud or disc like on these?..."

haha.

Maybe I'm not reading this right, but I think you guys are very lucky. My wife of 34 years has never had an interest in ANY of my hobbies - knives, guns, exotic cars, high-end wristwatches, electronic gadgets, etc. :(

Allen, I'm with you! My wife decided I needed a hobby as I seemed to have to much time on my middle aged hands. She keyed on my love of blades in general and suggested I collect them. In April I will have been collecting for one year. My current blade count is eighty eight as soon as my Dog Father arrives!
Not only does she support my rather expensive habit but she orders most of my custom blades for gifts from the makers behind my back!
Got to love those wonderful women we are proud to call our brides!
Got her a really neat Bible she has been longing for this Valentines Day. It has 4 versions in one beautifully bound leather book. It has all four versions on the same open two pages. so where ever you turn to the same verse is displayed in four different ways! Really neat. And a pair of 1/2 ct. diamond stud earrings. She lost one a few months back and I've been lax about replacing them. My shame. Have to take care of my love. Oh by the way... I know for a fact she has bought me another blade for tomorrow. I can't wait!
Ain't love grand?:p

Peace.

My wife understands the value of a good knife, just not big, sharp, scary knives [her words] Her favorite is a 3 inch paring knife in the kitchen drawer, uses it for damn near every task imaginable. I set her up with a LM Micra for her key chain, those scissors are the bomb on coupons. It's going to take a confrontation with a coyote on a darkened trail to convince her she needs a RAT-7:D

My wife understands my hobby but wants no involvement. She's scared of the kitchen knives. My 14 year old daughter is so-so. I've been trying to teach her some flips with my BM Bali. Really ruff but she seems interested. My other knives she can care less.

Just remember, that whatever knife you give to your friend or lover make sure they give you a silver coloured coin in return. An old and odd European superstition, if you don't receive silver in return for a knife then it will cut the bonds of friendship between you! Not bad if the silver coloured coin you get in return is a silver English Crown, American Dollar, Austro-Hung Thaler or other heavy weight real silver coins....

holly cow, i have to be the luckiest guy. my wife use to say oh another knife. ha ha, then i gave her her own swiss army knife. she too is hooked.i mostly carry 2 certain brands and now SHE keeps telling me to GO AHEAD and buy a WILLIAM HENRY. does'nt get any better than this. except now that i have the green light, i really have a hard time justifying the purchase.

My wife has her Swiss Army knife and she appreciates me keeping her kitchen knives sharp, but not much interest past that. However, I have recently taken up knife throwing and built a target stand in the back yard. My two daughters come out to throw whenever they see me there.
