Giving a rescued BK2 a second chance on life

I hold it like this:

IMHO, it is a good chopper for its size, but not a good chopper compared to the 9/other large choppers. Still, it fills a niche in my collection.

Yup, definitely good for its size. I can go through a 3 inch limb pretty quickly with the 2 if I hold it like this-

Frankly, it doesn't chop well at all--not even comparable to the 9. It batons the best of any knives that I have owned (IMO), but it isn't as long as the 9 (obviously) so it can only span about a 4 inch log if you still want room to hit the tip.

imho, most knives cannot chop for shit... barring certain odd ball designs that are less knives than big ass choppers :D

the BK2 is not a big ass knife in that way... definitely not an ax or machete...

considering though... it CAN chop. that's amazing. just not WELL.

great job on the restoration! sweet! you made it yours.

Exactly.

Thanks for the replies, everyone!

If I have to chop with the BK2 I'll stick my wrist through the lanyard and twist it about until my hand can't easily slip through. Then I'll grip the handle with my index and middle finger and let the rest of my hand wrap around the twisted lanyard.

Nice work! Great to see someone fixing up a knife with plenty of life left in it. Thought it warranted my first post to the forum. Also, congrats on your official BH status. I've enjoyed your postings and, as a CU-Boulder alum, your photos around Colorado. Looking forward to moving back to Colorado.

Thanks for the replies! I will be taking the 2 on a hike to the top of Green Mt, (Boulderites know what that is), as a second to the 14

I think I may know from who your rescued 2 came from... http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1103692
I thought it looked familiar...

No, I don't think it's that one. Is it ok to post a link to an ended auction on a certain famous auction site?

Welcome! Thanks for commenting! My dad also went to CU for grad school. CO has a lot of fun places, as you know. :)
