I give away knives, too grooms, party hosts, someone who does some work for me as a favor - paid of coarse.

But, i give away in most cases what I am carrying. Sometimes, if i know it will just go into the tool chest i give away my least favorite.

In most cases, I am carrying or testing something I really like. Then i have a hole in my pocket! Yet, the hole gets filled, sometimes twice or thrice offen at my own cost but still...... giving away knives is more fun then X-mas! It is X-mas all year round, all the time!

What do you think? I am sure there are other knife givers here? I have given away for years, sometimes i have left a knife behind too. Left on purpose, that is interesting - some have been tossed - ouch!

Give a Knife save a Life!

I give knives to friends all the time. If the knife isn't worth the hassle to sell/trade (being worth under 30) and I no longer like it, I'm sure a friend can get better use out of it.

I give knives away, too. Typically, only when someone shows a good bit of interest in a knife I am carrying. But also to friends and family.

I don't give away my knives. My income is limited, and so I buy knives I like. And nobody I know puts knives at the top of their wishlist, so when I do give someone gifts, I give them something they want more. If someone I bought gifts for expressed an actual interest in owning a knife, then I would get them one.

I give away knives from time to time. Usually to friends or people I know, but I have even given away knives to people that have purchased from me here on BF to pass around to others. The more people interested in knives and the amount of uses they have, the better for us.

I'd rather give someone a knife, then have them buy it from me. The best is when you make a blade for someone. I recently gave my buddy a handmade knife I did back in Jan. It had his initials machined into it. Only made 3, for him, my son and I. Each have our initials.

I've enjoyed giving knives away. It's fun to give someone a good knife, and get them started in cutlery. I like giving knives for Christmas, birthdays and special occasions as well.

I've given away more knives than I've kept. Usually it's a knife I've been trying which doesn't fit me perfectly, but now and then it's a knife I love.

That is the single most "Zen" thing I've ever read here. Think about that one for a while and you are taken to a higher plane of consciousness.

All that said, good on you dragonspray for being generous enough to give away stuff (though not to us apparently...who knows...but just in case I'll take #34, please...thanks for the chance!)

Ive given knives away that are not worth the shipping it would cost to send it to someone. On a few rare occasions I gave away knives that were closer to $40. Anything over that and I usually sell it. Reason being is that in most cases with my friends not being knife people rarely would any of them appreciate a knife over that value and it would be a wasted gesture. Half the time they like the crappy knives better anyway and wouldnt know quality if it cut them.

I frequently give knives as gifts to friends / family... Many of my friends have become knife nuts as a result. And for the non enthusiasts, you simply can't go wrong with a SAK based on size and general usefulness.

wow

i feel the pressure too do a give away, i suppose i should after using this site for years? let me think about this!

thx marcnick, be careful i start posting spacetime and multiverse posts. yes, i have transcended many planes - best not explain why or how as i feel it is very dangerous.

I've given a few away to friends who seemed really interested. Most of the ones I would give away though get adopted by my girlfriend before I can even think about handing em out.

I usually do my giving when I do a trade. That way I know it's going to a knife nut. Right now, for example, I'm doing a rather high end knife trade and I'm gonna throw a native in the box. ;)

I've become known in my family/friend-circle as the guy you want to get your name in a Christmas drawing if you like knives or flashlights.

Gave my dad a PM2 for his birthday, but thats the only knive I gave away. it wasn't my personal knife, I bought it to give to him becuase I love mine so much.
