Well, I had been saving this until my post count hit 500, but I've been stuck at 490 for a bit and I finally decided that post counts are really an arbitrary number. So, what the heck, I'll go ahead and kick this one off now.

It is time for a giveaway. I will be giving away a New York made Schrade 881 Stockman (with tube....if I can find it). It is in near mint condition. I would love to post a picture, but for whatever reason I have never been able to figure that process out (if anyone wants to lend a neo-Luddite a hand, let me know).

Qualifications to enter. Frankly, I have learned an awful lot from this subforum, so I would like to keep this giveaway to the regulars on this forum. So, please do not enter unless you have fifty (50) or more posts on the Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades subforum by the time the giveaway closes. I also ask, but do not require, that you post pictures of you oddest traditional knife. Let's see those odd ducks! I do not require pictures because, hey, I haven't even figured out how to post them!

I will accept posts until midnight Central time, Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Please only post once. I will use a random number generator to select the winner. I am happy to ship overseas...just work with me if you are overseas as I do not know your import laws.

Thanks for looking.

I'll get in for this one. The oddest one I have is this Bulldog transition half congress with waterfall cell scales.

Thanks for the giveaway

Here's my most special "traditional"; you don't see one like that everyday :D

Szanko02.jpg

It's a Szankovits I brought back from Hungary in the early '2000...Very traditional over there :foot:

Psst.
If you like, email me your pics and I will host them for you; you can even edit your first post and add the image links to it - I'll tell you how no prob.

Thanks for the contest and giveaway. I think the oddest duck in my accumulation is probably this Old Cutler stockman with hawkbill.

I honestly don't have anything yet that would be considered "odd", so I'll post a picture of the one that's odd for me.

Rough Rider doctor knife in pearl with abalone stripe.

It's odd for me because it's the only slipjoint I've purchased that doesn't have a sheepsfoot or wharncliffe blade.

Thanks for the chance.

I reckon a lota folks in here know I am a Stockman EDC'n fool from way back when.. And in a keeping with that tradition is the :cool:est and oddest and most unique Stockman pattern I have owned and one you do not see just every day..

Not odd, but my tiny fang from Dmitry Malakhov is unusual. Thanks for the chance.

I guess my oddest is my scagel fruitport. Not too many traditionals with a flow through nick. Thanks for the opportunity:

Thanks for the chance.
This knife isn't that odd, but the name is. It's a Sheffield yachtsman's or rigger's knife by Ibberson. As you can see, it's called a "Barlow Shackler". While it obviously has a shackle, it bears no resemblance to a traditional "Barlow knife".
Who was this Barlow?

Wayne, I'll take a mulligan on posting an image since I posted yours for you (above). ;)

(Plus I can't really think of a real odd duck at the moment.)

Not an entry, since I have at least thirty Stockman patterns (similar to yours) right now, and need to thin the herd myself. Your knife is a beauty for sure. Very generous of you to do the giveaway. :)

The oddest duck I have is, well, a Stockman of course, made by Benchmade for the
NRA, with Canoe-type raised bolsters. (Everyone I show it to really likes it, and it's
a nice "Traditional Ambassador" for introducing non-knife folks to our little world.)
I've begun modifying the spey blade into a spear, since I buggered up the tip.

The other is a Camillus-made Cold Steel Stockman, WIP from the Camillus closure
auctions. No final finish, no blade edge grinds. It'll make a nice project some day.

ps - And Elliott is being a little modest, I think. He's posted up some great pics in the past of some of his traditional patterns, some that are a little 'different'.

The most odd traditional I have is a Schrade USA+ LTD 2 blade Trapper with no shield and it has fluted bolsters. I just recently bought it "unused" and the seller said it was a Tennessee River Trapper. She's a beauty..I've just never seen a Schrade without the shield.

The oddest one I have is an old Schrade Walden automatic pocket knife, that ain't in such good shape anymore. But, it's pretty neat. And, I got it for 3 dollars at a flea market.

Please count me in.

I'll have to give some thought to odd though and see what I can come up with.

I was trying to think of some odd knife i had and decided the one i was carrying is a bit strange. Its a lockback main stockman by Rough Rider. So far,ive been quite impressed with it.Also in the pic is a unfinished Case Swing guard with ATS-34.A buddy picked it up at the Case swap meet and i was able to wrestle it away from him.Nice thread and thanks for the chance!
