Giving body screws a matte/sandblasted finish?

I’m working on customizing my Rex 45 PM2 and the last components I have left are the body screws, which I’m trying to give a worn/sandblasted/matte finish.

I don’t have a sandblaster and I don’t really care to pay for it either. Any recommendations? Some type of sandpaper perhaps? I’m also wary of abrading the “teeth” of the screws thus impacting their functionality.

Thanks!

I’m thinking of a q-tip & a dab of Whink to etch. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Lapping on free-rolling loose grit produces a matte finish that looks a lot like sandblasting. I've never tried it on something as small as a screw cap but I think it will work if the cap is flat which those appear to be.

Scotch bright pad, ive used them before to add a matt or satin look to metal before. It takes a little elbow grease but it's doable.
