I am grateful this year for so many things, and what better place to recognize than Custom & Handmade Knives on BFC!

Just got an e-mail from Phil Boguszewski concerning a knife ordered earlier this year-"I have the Cobra finished & ready to ship w/ 3 7/8" saber blade, orange peel bolsters, jigged black Micarta handles, orange G10 spacer & tip up carry.....Thank you for your order." Thank you, Phil....always appreciate a maker who delivers on time, and makes a wonderful knife.

Am in discussion with Burt Foster about 2011 knife....should be a great one. Am always thankful for knowing Burt.....he is an awesome person, and an extremely talented knifemaker.

Obviously, am thankful for health, great job and family.....and really thankful for my friends...especially Harvey Dean, Matt Diskin, Dave Ellis, Larry Fuegen, Phil Lobred, Paul Long, Tony Marfione Jr., R.J. Martin, David Mirabile, Joe Paranee, Gray and Evelyn Taylor and Thomas Welk. Matt, Paul, R.J. and Joe did me some real kindness this year...you can't buy friendship, it's a gift! I'm also grateful for the clarity this year to see people as they really are, and make decisions accordingly, minimizing exposure...What are you(primarily knife related) thankful for during this Holiday season?

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

That surely is a good way to to see the year as it is closing, Steven.
I wish you many more to come too!

I also wish everybody to have such a fulfilling year, full of good friends
and good things happening at home, work and a lot of fun...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

STevie, I am thankful for your friendship as well, and, as always, I wish you and your sweetheart, the very best.

Good idea for a thread STeven. Knifewise I have a bunch to be thankful for, as I have probably purchased more knives this year than any single year past. I have been real pleased with all of them, but two that stand out are the Fisk/Farr/Andrews/Foster collaboration bowie and the John White Legacy 3. Great times at a couple shows and more good times hanging with friends a few times throughout the year. And of course, I have seen SO many great knives right here on the forums and continue to learn from the contributions of this dynamic virtual knife community. My thanks to all.

Just as an FYI Steven; respectable people are in bed at 3:30AM! :D

I know you said primarily knife related but I am happy to have a year and half of decent health under my belt!

I was able to make it through my first year as a maker and sold 95%+ of what I made.

I reached my goal of making my first Loveless patterned knives.

Getting to know more makers old and new has been a bonus/blessing; some I now count as close friends. I have been able to pick the brains and learn form the likes of Jim Merritt, Marcus Lin, Thad Buchanan, John Young, Jon Graham, Brian Fellhoelter, and all of you here on BladeForums (a huge thanks to everybody)!

I was able to meet you and Joe (Joe was right you're not that bad)!

And lastly I was able to acquire a Chute from Thad and I was hoping to have one from Rob Brown but time is running out.

I am thankful for many blessings such as health, the job of knifemaking, (which I enjoy), for my wife of 48 years who puts up with me and the many friends I have met in the knife world. I am thankful for Phil Lobred who started the AKI and for inviting me to become a part of this great group. I am thankful for those who appreciate the work I do and for those who voted for me to once again receive the Buster Award. Steven, thank you for your friendship and for your reviews of the AKI.

I had a very slow knife year.. I am thankful that I am finally just about out of debt from my knife buying the last few years.. I had a very stressful year and had some of the biggest mental/character changes or revelations in the past 6 months that i've ever had. Alot is changing and I am thankful that I can lead myself in a more positive direction. I am working alot more, becoming much more healthy and getting a house with some cool roommates. I am thankful to have this community to become absorbed in when life gets really stressful.

This custom snare drum JUST came in today. I've been waiting almost a year.. so I am thankful for that too. :)

I am thankful for so many things, but since we are keeping it "knife-related" . . . I am thankful that God blessed me to live in this time and place where I have more than I need or even dreamed, so I have the resources to colllect knives that I like. When so many have so little, and when in our own country times have been so tough for so many for so long, I hope those of us who are fortunate enough to have the resources to participate in this hobby never take our good fortune for granted.

I am also thankfrul for the talents of all of these artisans and the ability to obtain and appreciate the fruits of their talent and hard work. I am particularly thankful that this year I was able to acquire 12 knives - some of them from makers whose knives I have wanted to add to my collection for some time. And I am thankful for websites like this one and the CKCA website where I get to see beautiful images of sooooooooo many more terrific knives than I will ever be able to see in person and hold with my own hands. Finally, I am thankful for the hope of the New Year that is coming, including the possibility of experiencing many more fine knife creations.

I said this on JD but it's worth repeating. I'm thankful that all you guys put up with my shit another year :)

Great thread idea!

I am thankful for all the support I have gotten here at Bladeforums as a Knifemaker! This is my first year and it has been incredible, that was only possible because of the people we have here! Thanks! You guys rock!

I am thankful for the health of the people and animals around me. I am thankful that my wife and I have great jobs and no kids at 33 years of age, it has allowed me to buy some custom knives that i really enjoy this year, just recieved a damascus rounder from Jerry Halfrich that is stunning. We just bought our first new car last week, Volvo XC 70, love it. Thanks to all the knowledgable folks here who make bladeforums an enjoyable place. here are a few pics of my damascus rounder

Nice Thread STeven I have so much to be thankful for but I will start with this I just had my first full check in 15 years I am 52 now and thought I should look under the hood. and the doc said it all looks real good . so I should be making knives for many years to come. The support I have gotten from all of the folks here on BF has meant a lot to me. I feel like we are all family . And I am very thankful to be part of this community .

STeven - I'll be thankful if you get Burt to snap a pic or three of that 2011 knife and post them up.

You are wise beyond your years, amigo!

As pretty much everyone here knows how bad my pics suck, I'll ask Burt to snap a few before he ships it out. It's a different knife for me, but it feels right for the collection.

^^^ - Thanks bro - I'm looking forward to what you guys come up with.

It would appear as though we led parallel lives, this year, Jonathan! A lot of strange trials and tribulations for me this time around, many I didn't handle well. I think I've finally managed to flush out the headgear, and hope to get more squared away and focused.

Something to be thankful for? That's easy! Right now, the focus of my attention would have to be my new baby boy. Brokk is a rescue. He's about a year old, and the turd that purchased him as a puppy had the intention of using him as a stud. Apparently, that means chaining him to a tree in the back yard with no shelter and just feeding him occasionally. It took the folks from Bullmastiff Rescue almost 9 months of legal BS before they got him. He's never been in a house (not even a roof over his head!), never experienced any kind of companionship, just existing, I guess. This neck of the woods ain't exactly easy on a short-haired breed, as it gets COLD here. I'll fatten him up over the next few weeks, and we'll make a dog of him yet. Here we are on our first walk as a family:

Matt - next to a coupla Mastiffs you don't look half bad. :p

Just kidding. I'm glad that Brokk has found a terrific family and wish you all many happy years together.

There is a special torment and justice waiting for "The Turd" in life, or death.....I so believe and witness Divine Retribution....you don't have to be a religious man to see it.

Thanks for posting.....family is really what it is all about at the end of the day.

Matt...Looks like Brokk's found his place.....
