These are some I've been sitting on a while now that I designed over the course of 2022-2024 as a big knife, but not a really big knife. Think Hudson Bay, it can do many things but it heavy enough to chop and has a bend towards that type of work. Trail clearing, cleaning up firing lanes, fire prep, breaking bones, pounding in tent stakes with the side, whatever you want to do.
These are designed by me and made for me to sell by David Mary, who makes a great knife as many of you know.
About an 8.75" blade and a little over a 5" handle and OAL of just about 13.75". The one with frog wood scales weighs 18oz, the wenge handle weighs 17.2 oz. Steel is 0.2" thick 8670 with a nice saber grind to keep it robust, but the grind is high enough to still do cutting tasks.
The handle is on the larger size to help facilitate the heavier tasks. It's taller than it is wide so it doesn't easily roll in your hand. There's enough of a pinky hook to keep you from involuntarily throwing your knife but not destroying your pinky. Flat butt for doing that's that might like a flat butt, like striking it with your palm to push the tip into wood or whatever else you want to force it into.
The sheaths are the Busse "Danny the Bull" leather sheaths as David nor I make leather sheaths and I felt like leather was a good match for these and I prefer to sell the knife ready to use instead of the knife only. I've been please with my experiences with their sheaths so far as a basic user leather sheath that seems to stand up well to being used.
The wenge knife has some spotting on it from shipping. The blades are well oiled still and there's no pitting, very light staining.
Price is $350 each shipped via PP G&S. Not looking for trades, since the wenge handled one has some staining, I'll say the price is negotiable. I wouldn't hate to make that one my own but since I'm trying to get money for a fishing canoe, selling takes priority.
