I finished a trade this week around last Thursday I believe; I have to say I'm not too pleased. I traded a BK11 for a Spydie Native. I sent my side of the trade USPS Priority on Tuesday the 8th and didn't receive the knife until Wednesday of the following week and never recieved a tracking number as promised. Communication was lacking and I do not believe the knife was sent as agreed and promised. I did get the knife but the trade did not go as smoothly as past ones have.

why don`t you beleive the knife was sent as agreed and promised? what was wrong with it?

If the guy never sent him a tracking #,it took 8 days to get it and if the post mark was days after the 8th I would be upset too.

I really don't care about delays that much. I figure if someone gets busy and doesn't get to the post office the next day, he'll get there the next day. If they get there late it won't go out till the day after that. That's 2 days by the board. Figure another 3 or 4 days to get there and that's at least 5 or 6 days right there. Stuff gets hung up sometimes too. Eight or nine days doesn't seem excessive to me.

I have had no deals with gkruty, so my comments are of a general nature. I have had deals that were not as smooth and quick as I might have liked, but I chose not to call them out in public. Instead I wrote the other party to express my disappointment, tell them I would not ding them in the GBU, but not to expect effusive praise either. YMMV.

I wondered if someone might say just that, resinguy. I'm not calling anyone out; I'm merely informing other members of what happened. I wouldn't like it if I made a trade with someone, and had a delay, only to find out it was never brought up previously due to someone not wanting to seem unkind.

So it's very clear that I'm not seeming to hurl accusations or speculations around, the Postmark for the package is the 10th and First Class Mail, not priority and not sent on the 8th, which was the date agreed upon and the date he said he sent the knife.

As I said, I'm merely stating the facts, and here's another one: I may not have been that clear in how I wanted the knife shipped and I'm willing to accept responsibility for that. I just thought that Priority was the accepted way to do a trade, and I have been known to make mistakes and misconceptions.

Again I don't want to ruin anyone's reputation, I only want to inform fellow members as I would want to be informed.

There is nothing wrong in pointing out how a deal went down. It is up to each person that reads fedaykincmndr's comments to decide what kind of importance to place on how gkruty handled things.

Just my thoughts..... I always ask how and who they are going to ship with and when....And I tell them the same.....It works well for me.....

I don't see what is upsetting about this....you got the knife, he got the knife, it took a little over a week from start to finish? You never specified what shipping service you wanted and he took what was probably the cheaper route. Sometimes folks have things going on with their life that may delay them a short while, but as you both got your knives in a timely fashion I think a PM would have been more appropriate.
In the first post you said it wasn't sent as promised and agreed....is that referring to the date or shipping service?

Just my opinion.

The date he specifically said he sent it was the 8th. The postmark was the 10th. Moreover the shipping between USPS Priority (flat rate envelope) and a standard package is negligible IMO.

As long as both parties are happy with the knife recieved in the end, all is good.....................

I also think this is much less of a concern to bring to the GBU. It really doesn't fall into the bad or ugly in my opinion. People have lives and sometimes they get in the way. This is definetly a pm or email concern. I could understand if the knife you recieved was in other condition than described or if you didn't recieve the knife yet. Seems like all is well (you each have recieved trade goods) and you have a personal conflict to resolve with this person, not a public matter. Just my 2c though.

My understanding is the difference in the way they are handled is usually nonexistent. Perhaps one of our postal people can amplify on that.

The only difference I found was that, though they kept a package at the local terminal for something like four days, I *could* pickup up Priority at the terminal but was not allowed to pick up a standard. Further, they added days because a standard package "doesn't move on the weekends."

I had a trade item that was with a somewhat new poster. I sent the blades, they sent the item. They got my stuff in 2-3 days via USPS Prio. My package took something like 2 weeks because their wife/gf dropped it off and it went bulk rate (cheap!) and the class of shipment made the weekends a non-transit day.

I was disappointed in the wait but mistakes happen. I spend a lot of time on here but not everyone who posts here has as much time to devote to the forum.

Just my opinion, but I probably wouldn't have called them out on GBU, either, but just sent a PM. ;)

It becomes each parties responsibility to outline *every* detail in the transaction. Otherwise, assume nothing - including how often they are 'net available and can respond to emails/PMs. Certainly, don't assume method of shipment.

Glad it all turned out okay. :D
