Here's a Gladius sword I built in 2013 and the owner has requested I place it up for sale for him.
**********************
A friend & neighbor was interested in having his Albion blade (5160 steel) made into a finished sword. He wanted something that
looked authentic & correct with a battle-worn patina, so... I constructed a guard from 1095 steel and a great piece of dark black ebony.
The handle is stabilized black & white ebony and the pommel is five layers of 1095 steel and is peened together with 8 pins.
All of the steel was heat treated and heat blued. The steel adds enough weight to make this feel really substantial in the hand.
Overall length is 28" with a 20" blade. The balance point is ~ 1" off the front of the guard.
The sheath is made of top quality 9 oz Wickett and Craig leather.
The sword was carried a few times in the field on hog hunts but is in good condition.
Asking $old priority shipping in the US. Please let me know if you have any questions.
