Gladius? Why?

The heart wants what the heart wants.

It would be an investment that will at least hold it's value, if not appreciate over time.

Easy, buy the Gladius first... that's a no brainer. :)

With limited budgets, we have to take small steps, and, well, the better half likes firearms, but isn't too keen on blades.

So we might have to employ the tactic, "Honey, look what i bought FOR YOU!" Hey, the safe is community property, right?

Then, hint around the Gladius for few months till my next birthday ;)

oh, who am i kidding, i'm spent out for the year on toys, and no, i didn't count the TGLB or PS as part of that... they're tools. But a Gladius?

It must be my debilitating lack of testosterone, but the Busse swords just don't do it for me. If I had that kind of cash lying around I'd get an SHBM with a swedge... could probably get a BAtac as well these days!

Each to their own. The more people that spend their pocket-money on AKs and Gladii the less money they have to snap up the remaining SHBMs before I can :)

um....I've loved knives and swords since I was old enough to pick one up. To own a sword in INFI steel is a no-brainer. A gladius will cut through any other sword out there...so yep, a yes to gladius for me. I've carried it in the jungle at night...imagining wild boars charging out (a very real scenario)...and, I smile...

When you run out of ammo you have a $1500 club (AR/M4 variants). With a Gladius, you have a $1000 edged weapon.

+1 on the coolness factor.

Same reason some people buy a Pagani Zonda...

As for tofu, there should be a law! (someone mentioned tofu)
The other day, my sister served a salad, with big white chunks looking like feta cheese. If was tofu... Put a warning on it, damn it!

I think a good shield that isn't see through or borrowed from a riot squad  would be a better companion for a Gladius than a gun. The Gladius is going to be most useful in a situation where the gun is not much use anymore since the threat is too many or too close when you need it. On top of TNT's reasons, it sure isn't likely to break on you either.

See the review I posted a couple years back here.

If you talk about fighting/killing potential, I think both Busse AK-47 and Argonne Assault are better than Gladius. But about awesomeness, nothing beat the Gladius.

I just thought of another great reason:

To have by my recliner when my grandaughter brings her new boyfriend to meet us, as I sit there cleaning the Benelli.

i have to agree. I have an AK47 on the way, and to ME, the gladius is just not an optimal killing weapon.

Now if you were willing to have someone thin the blade WAY down, or bring the edge up 3-4mm to something like 20 degrees, i can imagine it being a monster cutter, but as it comes from the factory, it's stabtastic, but slashing ability is limited.

Well, i agree, a shield goes better with a gladius, i just like to pair the knives with the firearms, more for photo ops. I mean, in real life, the last thing i'd wanna do, or need to do, when carrying a Gladius, would be to carry another excessively heavy tool, like a Desert Eagle.

But they sure do go together as comparative tools within their respective categories.

use sword to keep them back, and Glock 22 to put them down...

sword + gun = win

if you're too close to use a handgun, you need a TGLB, not a sword.
