AK47 is just swell for camping.
Im sure it is a great all around camping tool. but i dont think i have ever seen anyone trekking through yosemite with a 23 inch sword attached to their back![]()

Apparently large swords can have a 'real world' application. I think hand to hand combat in WW2 counts as 'real world' doesn't it??!

If you talk about fighting/killing potential, I think both Busse AK-47 and Argonne Assault are better than Gladius. But about awesomeness, nothing beat the Gladius.
I think a good shield that isn't see through or borrowed from a riot squadwould be a better companion for a Gladius than a gun. The Gladius is going to be most useful in a situation where the gun is not much use anymore since the threat is too many or too close when you need it. On top of TNT's reasons, it sure isn't likely to break on you either.
