I'm really interested in the Gladius but in your pic of just the tip, is that the coating just looking like that or is that the actual grind ?

What your seeing is the actual grind line. Due to the lighting your only seeing part of the line that makes it look crooked like that. It's actually a small triangle flat spot at the end of the groove. I'll try to get a better picture.
