Glass Bead Blasting? is it a viable finish for blades?

Just a thought I've been having for a couple of days..

Would fine glass bead blasting be any good as a finish to a blade?
Would the finish be even and maintainable for a user knife, or would it create more problems than say hand polishing a blade?
 
Not sure about glass, but ceramic will certainly do the trick.

Really good and really expensive.

I'm sure many blades are glass bead-blasted. It produces a fine satin finish.
Sandblasting is rougher-depending on the grit used.
