glass platen & belts

o.k guys,i'm dipping my toes in the water. i've ordered a craftsman 2x42 belt
sander( i know not the best but it seems that the consensus is that it will work) and i have read that i need a glass platen.(it was a couple of weeks on this forum b-4 i knew what a platen was)--------so where can i get a glass platen,how do i attach same and can you reccommend the kind of belts and the assortment of grits i should get to start out.

Any local glass shop can sell fireplace glass, or "thermoceram" or "pyroceram"

Scroll about a third of the way down. I called all local glass places before I ordered mine from Tracy at USA Knifemakers and they all wanted about twice the price, even figuring in shipping.
