Glass Platen

Out of curiosity, does everyone find that using a glass platen have sharper lines on their bevels or does this only really deal with the friction between the belt and the platen?

I've been using a piece of glazed ceramic tile for two years with no problem. Cut it to belt width and glued it on while I was tiling my bathroom.

Agreed about the static issue. Seems to create a capacitor of sorts. I'd read about it but had to experience it firsthand to believe it to be worth addressing. Stays flat though.

Jim hope your not using regular glass, you want to be using pyroceram which is glass that is used for fire place/ wood stoves. I have been using pyroceram for several years and I have been real happy with it except when I get shocked from the static shock from the belt LOL. Next time I replace mine think I will see if I can figure a way to get a copper ground wire to contact the belt to dissipate the static charge.

Mike, try laundry static spray on your belts. :-) I'm sure you'll like the results.
