Anyone have any experience with either? Were these experiences good or bad? I am going to he purchasing my first cc handgun. I have full size hand guns, but this month I have resolved to buy a concealed carry gun. I am leaning toward the g23, but the skirt that goes over the full size XDm mag flows so well with the XDm handle that it feels super comfy. Basically ergos are a tie for me. My issue is durability and performance. Shootability seems about the same to me, so I am looking for accuracy and durability.

While the Springfield is said to be a fine weapon, the Glock 23 has many more years of mileage under its belt. I carried a 23 for several years, and mine did not have a single failure of any kind. I also shot 357 Sig through it with a drop-in barrel. I love Glocks generally, and the 23 specifically. Its just up to you as to whether the ergos and appeal of the Springfield outweigh the long track record of reliable performance from the Glock 23.

As I have spoken of elsewhere, probably 10 years ago I migrated to pocket carry and I never went back. Its just too convenient and too comfy. Today its a Ruger SP-101 357 mag in my RF pocket. Its a little heavy, but it works with big pockets.

If you're talking durability and performance, I'd have to say it's pretty much a tie. This is coming from a Springfield fanboy.

BUT, with the XDm, you do get all the nice match grade parts and whatnot. I would side with the XDm. Of course, the match grade parts should increase accuracy and durability, but a normal guy isn't going to be able to shoot either gun better than the other one. Basically, I'm saying that the guns are limited by your skill, not by the guns themselves. More than likely, you'll shoot both of them exactly the same. It all just depends on which feels better, which trigger is better for you, etc.

When it comes down to it, unless you're Jerry Miculek or something, the guns go bang the same way.

No easy way to answer this, just need to get down to the shop, get a feel for both, rent both (or if you have friends that own one oor the other, borrow it) then shoot them. Both are great guns, its really a ford vs chevy argument that only you can answer. I personally prefure XD, my father, glock.

One thing I really do not like about the glock is how wide the 45 slide is, it looks like your standing on a aircraft carrier and lookind down the runway. However, if you want a 22lr conversion kit, you need glock, alot of parts are made for glocks, not as many for XDs or XDms but they are getting great aftermarket support.

I have both :D XDM and the [Glock (compact and sub compact)] all are great pieces BUT the Glocks are AT this point in time are far easier to get upgrades pieces and parts for!! ;)

You will not go wrong with either I personally like and shoot my Glocks better!! my 15 year old Daughter:(:) shoots the Spingfield better !!
than I shoot Glocks!!!:thumbup::o

I would have to lean to the glock. Bottom line dirty, clean, wet or dry it goes bang every time period. The only thing I feel the xdm has better out of box is the trigger. The glock definitely needs a 3.5lb ghost trigger job to make it perfect. Just my opinion ymmv. It's not the prettiest but I carry it and trust my life to it every day.

my USPSA competition pistol is a G34 and additionally have a G17, G35, and carry a G23... I like Glocks, and they replaced the 1911 competition pistols I shot for the previous 20years.. that being said, out of the box the plastic sights are terrible.. I would suggest you opt for aftermarket or a steel night sighted 23 if you choose the Glock route... I 've never taken to the double spring systems like found on the Gen 4 pistols, but that is just a personal preference... the 23 is as small as I would go with a .40...

I agree not an easy answer. I have owned both and still own the G23. I just didn't like the feel of the XD. I have a sprinfield 1911 and I love it but just could not warm up to the xd line. While the glock isn't pretty I found the XD to be even uglier, not that that matter for a CC gun but I was just more comfortable with the Glock. I have a G23 and a G20 10mm and I love them. The G23 get's carried just as much as my Ruger .357 mag and thats saying something because I love the SP-101.

Your going to get "this one is better than that one" from everyone because they are both fine firearms so it all depends on which you shoot better and feels better. I suggest you rent them both at a range and see which one you like better but if your asking for an opinion from a gun guy mine is for the Gen 3 G23.

If I go Glock it will be gen. 3. I hate the gen 4 grip. I was going to put a ring sight on the back of the Glock. Aftermarket is pretty important to me, as I have about 800$ to spend. The Glock is cheaper so I would be able to afford more ammo and upgrade parts. As I said: I am leaning toward the Glock. I appreciate all of the responses, and keep them coming if you have anything else to add.

Have both (among many more) the XD and the Glock. You have to hold them. Handgun has to feel good in your hand.
As for CC, I carry a S&W featherweight (38+P) Hammerless w/ Hydrashocks.

Thanks for asking this question and thanks to all those that answered. I also am going to compare the two for CC. However I live in the ridiculous state of IL that has no CC law.:thumbdn: Hopefully this state will get the hint. I do have a UTAH permit currently.

I think they are both good guns so you pick the one that is the most comfortable and concealable. I could not conceal either one of them so I carry a model 38 Smith and Wesson Body Guard in my pocket. Just easier for me

The XD may not have the track record of a Glock which first made its appearance in 1982, but people don't realize the XD has been around since 1999. That's plenty long enough in my book. The real name is HS2000. XD is what it gets labeled as once Springfield imports it. It's a Croation pistol manufactured by HS Produkt which used to be I.M. Metal.

Pick the one that is more ergonomic in your hand. You can't go wrong with either, but IMO, the XD trigger beats the pants off the Glock trigger. Handling both shouldn't be too hard to do. They are pretty common at most ranges. Rent both and do a side by side. You said you held both, but which trigger feels better?

I'd also suggest you handle a Smith and Wesson M&P.

Hello New member here.
My edc is a G23 with a Bar sto barrel,Lasermax, extended slide release lever,Fiber Optic night sights. I reload .40 and don't want a blowout. I am not a big springfield fan other than my 1911.

As xbxb stated, "pick the one that is the most comfortable and concealable." Nothing beats going to a gun store and fondling the merchandise. Simply, recommendations can make a particular weapon into a golden turd. It's a personal preference thing.

I can't stand Glocks, but I would never steer someone into purchasing ANY weapon (especially handguns) WITHOUT talking the person into handling one.

Glock 23

I've been shooting Glocks for 12 years and I'm a Glock armorer. They are completely idiot proof and can take a lot of abuse. You can find holsters in every style and by every manufacturer.

I do like how the XD feels. I owned one about 10 years ago. I sold it because I just couldn't stand the grip safety. It seemed completely useless to me and just something else to fail. Holsters were also a little hard to find that long ago. Probably not the case anymore.

If I would replace my Glock 19 or Glock 22 it would be with a S&W M&P compact and fullsize. I have too much invested in Glocks to change now.

I have handled the Glock, XDm, and M&P. The M&P grip doesn't suit me. Also, I agree about the grip safety on the XDm.

I'm in the same boat, and every one I talk to in person says Glock is just more reliable. I watched a video comparing the two from a member here and the XDM jammed twice during it. THey said it may have been the fact that it wasn't lubed well, but the point is the GLock would have likely fired fine even in that state.
