I just picked up a new Glock Gen 4 G17. This past Sunday I ran 100 rounds of 115 gr Winchester white box.....50 rounds of 124 gr Federal American eagle.....50 rounds of 115 gr Blazer Brass and 25 rounds of some old Remington Golden Saber 124 gr +P 9mm ammo thru it. It performed flawlessly with all ammo. I love that the SF (short frame) is now the standard configuration. The trigger reach is perfect for me. It comes with 2 back straps. The medium back strap makes the grip the same as a Gen 3 configuration in regards to trigger reach (adds 2mm, the large adds 4 mm). The new stippling feels/works great......much less aggressive than Glock's original RT (raised texture) attempt. The best advancement is the new dual recoil spring. The difference in recoil is evident. The slide velocity is slowed but not at the expense of reliability......at least in my G17. The new Gen 4 is a very soft shooter.

The Glock Gen 4 G17 is an excellent addition to any collection of handguns.

2 thumbs up! :thumbup::thumbup:

I have the gen 4 model 22 and had a gen 3 and there is a huge difference in felt recoil. I am a Glock fanatic owning 3 of them that I carry all the time.

I got my first Glock a month or two ago now, and I have yet to have a round FTF. If I had to choose one combat pistol to rely upon to fire EVERY TIME I pull the trigger...it would be a Glock.

are Glocks reliable?

LOL! Bro, if you had to choose a firearm based upon reliability & durability alone...choose a Glock. They are ugly, they are simple, but they are perfect. I hate not choosing an American made pistol, as I am a huge supporter of everything made in the USA. However, Austria has us beat in this catagory.

Bottom line: if I had to rely upon one knife...it would be a Busse, and if I had to rely upon one pistol...it would be a Glock.

Glock has a factory in Smyrna Georgia, so your still safe.

You carry three of them all the time?!:eek: I bow before you, Tackleberry! :D:thumbup:

But seriously, I'm right there with you being a fanatic. I've only got two, but I'm major jonesin' for a G21SF. Right now, I'm just trying to figure out how to get one (inexpensively) that doesn't have the ambidextrous mag release.

Otherwise, I'm into the Compact series (not Mini).

Checked out an acquaintance's Gen4 G17. They are NIIIIICE!

I rotate between my model 22 and 27 or my model 23 and 27. With the number of death threats I have gotten over 22 years in law enforcement I stake my family and I safety on Glock's.

Rockspyder Michigan police equipment (Lansing,Mi) is getting a huge inventory of Glock trade ins from the DOC. These are gen 3 with night sights. they will ship to an FFL dealer. The price on these are $335 and you get 2 15 round mags.

:eek::eek::eek:

Do they have a website Mike?!

:cool:

Does Glock have a factory in Smyna, GA or is that the portal of import into USA? I have read that with the TENIFER finish process of the Glocks was not EPA "safe" in the USA.

The Tenifer finish penetrates the steel and creates a rust inhibitish surface even when the visually finish is worn. I have a G22, 20 years old, that the finish is worn and there is no visual signs of rust enven though I wear her in a subtroptic environment against my sweaty body.

Niiiiice! Very tempting, especially if my G23 weren't less than a month old. :o

And my other is a G19.

But are you talking G21's here?! :eek: If so, I need contact info!

The Smyrna factory manufactures the polymer frames and assorted other components here n the U.S. while the slides and assorted internals are manufactured in Austria so that the Tenifer finish can be applied.

This helps reduce their cost of importing complete firearms and the ensuing taxes.

It also gets around the silly "sporting use" BATF restrictions requiring adjustable sights and trigger grooves on the sub-compact models that were then replaced and shipped back to Austria because few end users want them, but the Feds say they have to be there for importation.

Yeah, I love my Glock!!!

Those trade in's are gen 3 model 22. As far as contact info look them up in the whitepages.com. They are in lansing Mi. I am pretty sure they will ship to your FFL dealer. I know from where I work some of these do not even have 200 rounds through them.

Alright, now we know. Thanks.

I love my G22. She is my Amex Card, I don't leave home with out it.

I love my gen 4 the grip with no back additions is my favorite I have big meaty hands so I love small thin grips.

Hi I am David & I have a Glock problem:o

my opinion...and the opinion of 1911 lovers everwhere...the grip angle and backstraps on a glock are horrible. And that trigger with the obtrusive trigger safety. For me, Glock has found all the ways to make a firearm just flat out annoying. Will it operate after being buried in your backyard for 10 years. Yes. But I could ignite a round by hammering on the primer with a ball peen hammer while clamped in a vise. That's about equal to the size and thickness of a glock. Buy it and love it or be conscious and buy a Sig or HK and recognize quality.

(obviously heavily opinionated today...god bless online forums)
