Glock Gen 4 G17

SIG and HK are good guns. However, the SIG bore axis is signficantly higher than the Glock, which brings more muzzle rise and HK triggers feel horrible, to me. Kinda like it's been dunked in greasy sand. I have not tried the newer trigger modules, yet, so there may be improvement there.

With deals like the OP listed coming up more frequently, anyone wanting a good, reliable, accurate gun for back-up, long term storage or just to have around, Glocks can be had for much lower cost than SIG, HK or 1911's and with ammo prices like they have been the last several months, Glock has the advantage.

its official, a glock will be my next big purchase, damn this thread.

I really want a 36 or 20/29 but Im thinkin a newb like me should play it safe and get a 19. SO many decisions but few poor ones when choosing from the glock line (from what Ive read/heard)

If I was going to buy another Glock I would have to go for a .10mm.

I have the Glock .22C and have carried it shot it for 10 years or so.

They work for me.

I bought it instead of a Sig, and several other choices (all a bit more money) because of the ease of use for my wife.

I can hand her the Glock and not worry about whether she will be able to use it. She is a great shot with it, and in a high stress situation there is no mystery (or manual safety or hammer drop lever).

Just Bang Bang Bang, then push a button to drop the mag and insert new one, and repeat.

The Glock has significantly less felt recoil than the same size Sig. Lower bore axis, and the polymer frame flexes under recoil and reduces felt recoil even more.

I have shot just about every type and make throughout the years.

My favorite is a high end 1911 (Ed Brown Kobra carry maybe), followed by a nice production Kimber (dark earth is a great color combo).

I also carry .357 revolvers too.

I love my gen 4 the grip with no back additions is my favorite I have big meaty hands so I love small thin grips.

My Gen 4 17 is in there somewhere ? :)

Hi I am David & I have a Glock problem:o

If you look REALLY hard, you will eventually see some guns in these photos. :D

Did you all notice that there were 3 G-20's and a G-29 in that pic :D

I love my 10mm's

Does the gen4 feel much different than a gen3 when firing it? I don't need the interchangable backstraps as mine fits my hand well, and the mag release has never been an issue... but I hear they changed the recoil spring in this generation.

The G17/G19 Glocks are absolute classics.

I was almost as bad as you bro, at one point I had 8 of them, sold off 6 then recently bought my 3rd and favorite a 20SF, nothing and I mean nothing beats 15 rds of 10mm goodness in the woods

my opinion...and the opinion of 1911 lovers everwhere...the grip angle and backstraps on a glock are horrible. And that trigger with the obtrusive trigger safety. For me, Glock has found all the ways to make a firearm just flat out annoying. Will it operate after being buried in your backyard for 10 years. Yes. But I could ignite a round by hammering on the primer with a ball peen hammer while clamped in a vise. That's about equal to the size and thickness of a glock. Buy it and love it or be conscious and buy a Sig or HK and recognize quality.

(obviously heavily opinionated today...god bless online forums)

I moved several Sigs and HKs around in my safe to add another Glock. Variety being the spice and all that.... :D

I'll play. Here's my G4, barsto barrel, Trijicon RMR. Co-witnessed with iron sights. It's my carry gun.

I wish they were available in MA. They were 100% compliant, but the Atty Gen. was a P-word and they backed off. If I were them, I'd tell em to pound sand on any future police orders as well. :(

Rockspyder Michigan police equipment (Lansing,Mi) is getting a huge inventory of Glock trade ins from the DOC. These are gen 3 with night sights. they will ship to an FFL dealer. The price on these are $335 and you get 2 15 round mags.

Mike
How do I go about grabbing one of those?

No doubt used and new Glock prices are attractive if you like the feel of a Glock. I like the HK P30 albeit is a more expensive gun, but haven't fondled a Gen 4 yet -

I use Glock 20 for my woods gun for a reason so I'm not a Glock basher, just an observer.;):D My 1911's are my favorite to shoot.

Not trying to be a party pooper, I like the way Glocks handle and shoot but when it was time to buy an auto I went with an XD. I ended up with the XD9 sub compact. They just point better for me.

Not trying to start something, but I'm a 1911 lover.... and I love Glocks. The 1911 and the Glock seem to pretty much be the only semi-autos I can shoot decently. Well, maybe a Kahr, too. But XD's, Berettas, S&W... just can't hang with them. H&K I can do about halfway decent with, if it is a good USP. Don't know why, because i think their triggers suck. But I can work 'em. And actually, the new XDm works OK for me. But for really good shootin', I have to go with a 1911 or Glock.

Those trade in's are gen 3 model 22. As far as contact info look them up in the whitepages.com. They are in lansing Mi. I am pretty sure they will ship to your FFL dealer. I know from where I work some of these do not even have 200 rounds through them.

Thanks Mike!

NICE!!!!!

OK I have to chime in. I have owned SIG and I loved it great shooter. I have shot Smith and Wesson, Berretta and a few others. I own 2 Glocks a Model 21 and a Model 30. I carry a H&K P2000 with the LEO trigger for work. 1911's well I have fired those as well and i liked it all right.

The Glocks go BANG everytime... I know all guns are supposed to but after you shoot one for a while it becomes second nature. I trust the guns.
A Glock was my duty gun for years and I trusted it with my life.

The H&K is over blown and over expensive and I would take a Glock anyday over it.

SIG well that is another matter.... but I have Glocks.... so my gut tells me stick with what works and dont fix what isnt broken.

Price point of the 2 Glock beats the SIG... But SIGS are nice... P220 would be a nice addition.

Yeah Dennis, living in this Socialist State has it drawbacks when it comes to things that go "bang." At least some of the newer models are making their way into civi hands now that the gen 4's are out. Still happy as a clam though with my old reliable gen 2 G19. Thousands of rounds through it. Still rock solid.

I wish they were available in MA. They were 100% compliant, but the Atty Gen. was a P-word and they backed off. If I were them, I'd tell em to pound sand on any future police orders as well. :(
