Glock Holsters

I am to fat for a IWB holster. The holster I have found works best for me is a Desantis 02 speed holster.

I have IWB leather Galco's on my Glock 27 and all other smaller guns. There thin comfortable and pretty cheap

Old LAW (not sure if there still around) leather holster for larger guns. Put it inside the back and it will hide any size auto or 4in revolver.

I'll add pic of both in morning.
EDIT-Crappy quick pic, the Galco's are comfy and cheap

The LAW holsters are still around. Here is their website http://www.handgunconcealment.com/ I bought my Father-in-law one for Christmas this past year.

I have had mine for 15 years now. I use it to carry my Glock 22 (fullsize .40). This is absolutely the most comfortable holster that I have used. As you can see in the pic, the leather forms to the shape of the gun afther wearing for a while.

Wow Gator, thats some serious usage! Looks like it would feel much better than when new/stiff. I've had mine at least 15 years also but never used much since only carry smaller guns. If I did carry mid to large I would pick it over any other I've seen for comfort and concealment.

The LAW Concealment holsters do become "softer" with use. This past Thanksgiving, I wore it while driving from Florida to Memphis and back (all the states that I drove through have reciprocity with Florida concealed weapons permit holders). It was so comfortable, I could hardly notice that I was wearing it with a full size Glock.

Concealment is great. I have even worn it in the front or my pants (for short periods of time). Note: no round in the pipe for peace of mind.

As per retaining the pistol, I have run with it with no problems of my Glock becoming free.

I chose the Glock because it does not have a thumb safety, therefore in the heat of use, if ever the reason, it seams to be faster to draw and use if need be. The same with the LAW holster. I do not spend the time training shooting from a concealed position, so this holster and pistol combo makes since to me.

Hey John , my two favorites are galco and ross leather . You can fin ross holsters at midway usa .Gerry . Also Don Hume

Maybe you're too fat............or probably is was the holster.

My "test" for customers is, if you can accommodate the gun alone inside your waistband, then you can accommodate it, with comfort, in my BraveHeart IWB.

Good question, but like everything else a lot depends on your preferences. I like kydex on some things, but abhor it in a IWB. There is just something about plastic on your skin all day that is irritating to me. For IWB it is leather all the way IMHO.

For OWB... it is your choice. Kydex is rougher on your finish (due to unavoidable debris in the holster), but that is not a concern with your G30. Either should last you a lifetime.

One thing to bear in mind is that your belt and holster form a system. A 1.25" belt coupled with a 1.5" holster will crate slack between the two and cause 'rocking' of the holster making less comfortable, and more noticeable due to the movement, among other negative factors.

Most production holsters like Hume, Galco, etc... are going to be 1.5" to 2". Just be sure you match your preference of belt size with your holster. My other recommendation would be to purchase a double-thick belt for the system. A G30 feels like a brick after toting it all day (trust me). The thicker belt will greatly help to dissipate the weight across your midsection and make carry more comfortable.

As far as makers go, there are several fine leather makers out there. Milt Sparks is mentioned among the finest, as is Kramer Leather, Milt Sparks, HBE leather, Brommeland Leather, DelFatti Leather, Rusty Sherrick, Haugen Leather and several others that don't come to mind at the moment.

For kydex, I would join in with the other guys on here and recommend our fellow hog Dave Brown... his stuff is just downright cool.

EDIT: For Dave see above my post...

Hope this helps...

I carry my Glock 22 and it does not feel like a brick eventhough it is a full size model. I use a leather IWB holster from LAW Concealment. The weight distribution is good. The leather forms to the gun and to the contours of my back making it very comfortable. As I mentioned earlier, I drove over 1,000 miles and hardly noticed that the Glock was IWB in the small of my back.

As per the belt size matching the holster, you are correct. However, the LAW holsters slide over the belt, no need to thread the belt through the holser.

inside the waistband- Milt Sparks (be prepared to wait a couple months) or find one used
belt slide- go with Desantis for leather (galco is nice, but not worth the extra money over desantis) and kydex I'd go with blade tech.

I have never found a kydex holster to feel good wearing it inside the waistband... leather will bend and form to your waistline and hips whereas kydex wont.

shoulder rigs I'd go with a galco jackass rig, best one I've found so far.

I have a closet full of different holsters I have tried over the years for several different guns, you will try some you love for a few months then something else will come along and you will try that... its a vicious cycle.....

I have carried a sidearm daily for the past eleven years and have switched issue sidearms several times over the years, but many times I find myself coming back to a desantis belt slide more then anything else...

The Safariland leather IWB with J-hooks are nice. I carried a Glock 19 in one before I gave it to my father. I haven't had the chance to buy a replacement yet.

While we have not the "luxury" of concealed carry in IL, I used to carry while in my place of business. The most comfortable thing I had was a Milt Sparks VersaMaxII. I toted a full size 1911 in a hot restaurant all summer long and never gave it a thought. Too bad my 1911 probably won't fit in it anymore when it gets back from Bob Miller.

It is obvious to me that some of you have either tried crappy IWB's made from kydex, or your friends did and told you how much they sucked.

Like leather, not all kydex is created the same. I have many testimonials on file praising the comfort of my BraveHeart IWB, up to and including Glock 21 rigs. (One guy got one right, one left hand for his G21.......the left one was for backup.......even he called me to tell me how comfortable they were.)

I'd rather have kydex against my skin than leather, as leather will soak up sweat, making it soft and making the draw more difficult due to more friction. If you insist on leather, buy two. That way, you can "air one while you wear one."

Another thing: wear. Again, it depends how the kydex is formed. It may wear faster INITIALLY than leather, but that changes over time. Why? Because dirt, lint and grit get into the interior surface of a leather holster. You can just run a kydex rig under the kitchen sink or run a handkerchief thru it and, voila, all the accumulated abrasive material is gone. But in a leather holster, it imbeds itself into the surface, making it more abrasive as time goes on.

Want to minimize holster wear with kydex? Keep it clean ! Takes 10 seconds if you're slow.

Want to eliminate holster wear completely? Keep it in a box, in your safe. Otherwise, as with INFI, the wear marks become badges of honor, proof that you USED your tool(s) and thereby giving each item a story to be told....
