Glow in the dark scales?

You can search for moonglow acrylic. It's expensive and brittle and will melt if you use machines to shape it.

Why don't you make your own?
I know there are a number of retailers of glow product on the market.
Glowinc might be the best, probably just edges out glownation on the price
But I think they have the same supplier. Don't get what you can buy at home depot though
That stuff is crap.

I've used some of the GlowInc stuff on some gun sights.. Works like a charm.. ;)

I dunno how I'd go about making some scales though.. Suggestions?

Read through the knifemakers section. That would be the best place to ask any "How do I make" type questions. It's not as simple as you might think, you will need files, sandpaper, a saw, vice, and possibly other more expensive tools. Not to mention a respirator.

I have a complete machine shop along with some toys that most don't have access to. Laser cutter, cnc routers, etc.. :)

Website Description: Half-LifeX™ is some of the coolest handle material around. It glows in the dark, brightly, and for a really long time! For effect, all you have to do is charge it with a standard light source and it will glow for hours. This material is similar to paper Micarta in the way it machines and sands.

Haven't ever used it myself, but I got my kydex and sheath making stuff from this site without any trouble.

Damn, some people have all the cool toys. If you do undertake this project, I would love to see the finished product. I'd also vote for the Halflife-X.

I've used Half Life and it's very easy to work with and glows very well. I've made a few back spacers out of both blue and green Half Life.

In this case, at least in the case of the Moonglow acrylic, which is outtathisworld glowinthedark ;) (the same stuff used on the Manix 2 ECD Forums limited), machine tools are not an advantage. :)

Ever hear the expression "Chinese milling machine" ? ;) :D

I was thinking about laser cutting, but I'm not sure how to mill out the lock mechanism on the Kershaw Leek..

im sure it's easy enough to find instructions on google.
Or at least something similar, and then experiment.
