Glutton for Pain? A New Special Project . . .

Coyote: registration acknowledged!

BMW: I agree that for the most part, there are no new knife concepts, only new knife combinations. As such, I think you'll agree that while Ken's handle has probably existed somewhere in the annals of history, such a handle on a khukuri is rather new.

But your point is very well made - is the khukuri blade shape "original?" No. But does the Nepali khukuri totally resemble the kopis? No.

Ken Onion Knife Update: Well, I'm sending Lalit off his copies of Gurkha Steel (the video), and I'm sending color photographs of the Ken Onion Khukuri and the khukuri we have listed on our website in the specials section. What I'm saying is that the Ken Onion Special is officially started. Look for delivery after January 31st. Due to the lengthy WWIII saga, no advanced orders will be taken. However, I'm taking into account the above requests and any below this message when I order numbers. Have no idea about pricing, but they should come in at about $90.00?

They'll be numbered, but we won't be taking requests for specific numbers. It'll be first come, first serve.

Sorry for all the restrictions (I hate rules!), but it'll make things much easier when they come in.

I'm still interested in one and I don't care what number I get or if they are numbered at all for that matter

Craig,

Put me down for one if possible.

Thanks

Andre

Sure - I'll order as many as there's demand for them, plus a few for good measure. Seems like whenever we get something totally new in, we can't keep them in.

If it is at all possible, put me down for one also!! I have the Reiger #2 and this would be a nice companion to it. Looks great!! Thanks in advance.

For $90?!? Oh heck yeah, Craig.

Count me in!

BTW, will these be made with a spike tang or panawal?

Either way, please put me down for one.

I DO NOT CHOOSE TO BE A COMMON MAN

"It is my right to be uncommon...if I can; I seek opportunity...not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stole calm of utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat. It is my heritage to stand erect, proud, and unafraid; to think and act for myself; enjoy the benefits of my creations and to face the world boldly and say,
This I have done, and this is what it means to be an American."

Can somebody tell me the laws regarding the importation of "double edged" knives. The spine edge is only a false edge, but I do need to know that. I'll do the research myself, but if anybody in the knife world knows, I'd appreciate the info.

Craig,

After getting your e-mail reply about posting on here, I guess this means I am on the list!!!!

Thanks

You got it! I think I'll number them, but there will be no advance sign up or anything like that. When they arrive (probably sometime in March), we'll give forumites one day's head start over the rest of the population, and then will fire off a newsletter announcing the arrival. This all hinges upon my friend's opinion down at customs regarding the importation of a khukuri with a false reverse edge.

Update: I'm sending Lalit his copies of the video tapes this week. He'll also get color photographs (the ones shown on this thread). From that, he's going to make the knives. I'm going to take a risk and order no prototypes. I figure with all the pictures I'm sending, they'll come back just fine.
