Was looking at the thread with proto type bag, from ESEE. And got to thinking, and wondering what everyone else has right now.

I read the guide on the main Esee site, and saw the example of what is used, a max bag and his items.

What do you guys have? Whats in yours? Pictures possibly? Just curious to see what everyone else has, or what else is there. What bags you may all use? Various items contained?

Any suggestions when assembling such a bag?

On a secondary note, I am thinking of taking a friends offer of taking a trip to Vietnam or the Philippines, for roughing it in the wild anyone been to either or both of those countries? Do you know if I'd be able to send myself my esee knives?

my bag is a camelbak too. i usually have a couple extra pouches clipped on, a canteen a med pouch and a admin pouch for stuff. usually have a glock21 or a 1911 in it with mags. clip my rc3 on and belt the rc6. mess kit and gortex jacket inside with sleeping bag and clothes, food the usual for camping. depending on what i'm doing of course the load varies.

Reading that BOB article made me decide on the Pygmy Falcon actually, it's a great pack. Off the top of my head here are some items I keep in it;

-Nalgene of water and steel cup
-Leather gloves
-First Aid kit, and a smaller kit of supplies for simple cuts and scrapes (so I don't have to go through the "big" first aid kit to get to simple bandaids/neosporin)
-Pen, pencil, marker, small Write In The Rain notebook.
-Fenix 2AA flashlight
-Leatherman Wave and bit kit
-Two Bic lighters, matches in match container
-Esbit stove and fuel
-Instant coffee pouches, some mini slim jims (the food not the tool..), Clif bar and other misc foodstuffs I come across..
-Military style knife, spoon and fork
-Douk Douk knife
-EMT scissors
-Pouch with stuff like X-acto knife, mini screwdrivers, small bit driver
-Hand sanitizer
-Towels that are the size of a Tums and when you add water they grow..what are those called again?
-A baggie of change in different denominations

There are a few more odds and ends but that's most of it.

My advise would be don't go too crazy with adding "stuff"...try to keep it simple or the bag will get too bulky/heavy and you won't carry it. I tried not to duplicate anything either and kept the items simple and cheap..like instead of an expensive/larger titanium cookset..I've got just the Esbit stove with four cubes of fuel and the steel cup. Instead of a $150 Emerson knife I've got a $20 Douk Douk...lighter, cheaper, smaller...

What is your email LittleSpartan? I might be able to help you find a bag.

I just received my eberlestock halftrack yesterday. I spent a few week researhing packs and settled on it. It's awesome. The construction is top notch, excellent customer service/warranty. Perfect size for 3-4 days, and lots of molle webbing inside and out.

I'll probably start loading my BO stuff in it this weekend. A few loaded Wilson mags, some loaded pmags. Surefire/vtac L4, clothes, a few MRE's, first aid, fire starter, etc. It will hold it all with room to spare.

And a BIG +1 for payson outfitters, who I bought the pack from. Cheapest price I could find online. Free shipping, 5% off of the total cost for being a coues whitetail member, and you get a free gift from them. I chose a 2L eberlestock bladder for the pack.. A 30 dollar extra for free.

For a real bugout, Kifaru Zulu

For a car kit, I go with a Medium ALICE, because if it, and the cheaper gear in it get stolen, I can replace them fairly easily. My real "Oh Sh*t Kit" has better, more expensive gear.

I have the pygmy falcon too but I'm gonna switch to an airflow design, probabley osprey. I have in mine, sorry no pics I'm in a pub drinking terminator and typing on my phone;;)
Stainless cup
Casualty blanket
50-75 ft of paracord
Pack towel
fish kit and sewinh needle
Purification tabs
Trash bags
Silva ranger
Space blanket
Photon
fire straws, mini bic, and lmf firesteel
Tinder kit with jute, steel wool, and charcloth with flint and steel
And that's all I can remember off the top of my head.

I've been reading up on go bags for a while now. Haven't pulled the trigger on a pack yet, but I really like this one:

Mystery Ranch Dragon Slayer

I think it might work great as a go bag/hunting/2-3 day camping pack. A little on the expensive side, but I read really good things about Mystery Ranch. I'm interested to see what other guys are using..

I just got me a pack from Big 5 - they had hiking boots on sale and decided to get me a pack (Hi Tec)... i wish i saw this thread before... i could have bought a much nicer one...

I ordered some webbing from therainshed.com and i am going to sow it to the backpak to attach the molle locks that came with my RC6

I'll show some pics with that :D

For a wee grab bag / go bag I really like the SO Tech Mission GoBag. Once you strip all the straps and crap off it's quite a slick little bag with some good solid organization inside. Shoulder strap tucks away in the back pocket leaving a couple of little handles.

More for your bug-out essentials than something to live out of (but then I guess thats the point and helpful in only taking what is needed).

I tried the normal go-bag but found that a little harder to organize.

i use a 5.11 rush 72 pack for my bob. I live in the city, where it's not uncommon to see molle webbing on a student's bag. So i figure tacticool here would actually be less suspicious. In it i keep the basics:

nalgene
gerber LMF II (going to be replaced with a esee-5 or 6. haven't which decided yet)
Izula
streamlight scorpion w/ spare batteries
FAK
2 cut down MREs
a few packs of instant coffee
100ft of paracord

theres plenty more, but you get the idea. i can't get pics now, but if anyone wants an idea of the bag i can post it later.

Hey sorry for the long reply with everyone jumbled into it! I didnt want to post individually small replies as that would make the thread un-necessarily cluttered, and I don't want to bump my post count aimlessly. So here goes!

AWAD: Man! Your thread got me all happy, had a terrible weekend; and when I saw your images, it was like I just got all warm inside lol. Ok, but on that note; seems like it has alot of pockets (which is what I want and need to diversify and organize) , hows the stitching? how much weight have you loaded in it? My kid cousin just got a Dakine skate bag for school and carrying his board on campus, he loaded it with a few of his books history, pre cal, and I think bio? I don't know, hs was to long ago for me lol. But his top strap tore, not that load baring I guess.

CricketDave: Thats really nice! Where did you get yours? I liked Awads bags color, but I am really digging the Coyote, I thought I'd like another bag in black, but changed my mind, since it attracts some much heat when just walking around, and the bag I have a Mongo from Max, for my daily bag, gets pretty warm. The smaller bag behind the rifle who makes that one?

DH1: for your Nalgene bottle, have you ever noticed a weird smell from the bottle, though the water taste fine and never has an odor itself or weird taste, the bottle smells a tad bit? I have a Maxpedition one and it smells like weird ripe pears. Oddly. Just wondering. And about Emerson, I wanted one for the longest time, but decided and settled with a Bench for daily cutting duties of misc items, I have since it died a while back on the incident that occured that spurred me to get same knives as friend, whos knives kept us alive and did all the work asked of them. I now have a Sog Flash II as my edc until my esee's come in then it wont be alone lol.

CPL: that bag looks huge! Have any pictures of the inside?

Stag: My Maxpedition Mongo, looks similar to that, but it isnt meant as my BOB, just a nice bag to carry my stuff around school and for work :) is that a squirrel patch on your bag?

Car: Cant wait to see how the pack looks with webbing! Post some pics when you're done!

Roger: Yah I just noticed that while googling :( but it may be worth it!

Mindz: What kind of blade is that? I like it :) and that patch looks hilariously awesome! Where did you get it?

Boro: I just got a Gerber LMF II today in black, one of my friends said have it, cause he didn't need so many, I believe he has a brown and black, the one he gave me was an extra? I like it! But I like his ESEE knives better :) and yes! Please post more pictures! I also got a Surefire E2D Led light from same friend, its amazingly and blindingly bright!

i picked the pack up at the clothing sales store on the navy base my wife's stationed at. the little bag is a t.a.d. organizer bag that clips on molle gear, i use it for a med bag. also from the clothing sales store.

i really like the coyote color it goes with just about everything.

Huskyfever, awesome choice. I like that Kifaru Zulu as well, that's a good lookin bag. I picked up a 24 dollar Gerber Evader the other day, nice sized Molle daypack with a water bladder. It's not here yet but for the money you can't go wrong. I need to order a TAD gear Op1 organizer for it yet, that little pouch clips on to any MOLLE water bladder and gives you an awesome pouch for organizing little things like a first aid kit, all your small tools, firekit, navigation equipment, etc etc. Unfortunately it costs more than the bag itself. My full BOB is an Eberlestock Operator, built to live out of for extended periods of time. I am still working on the surgical first aid kit and a few other minor things but for the most part it's an awesome comprehensive bug out bag, SERE manual and all.

Does anyone here actually HAVE a Mystery Ranch pack? I hear good things about them but don't know anyone that has one. They seem a little overly complicated. I don't know when it became necessary for a pack to have 12 feet of straps, extra zippers, belts, 3 100oz Hydration pockets and enough Molle to attach 5 more packs together. Things have gotten so tactisexual these days, I wouldn't be surprised to find out they sell subdued rainbow flag patches.

I'm still on my search for just a regular, basic black Eagle Becker Patrol Pack but they are backordered for 6 months. (Anyone want to sell me one?????????????????????????)

In the meantime, I'm looking at the Maxpedition Vulture, Kifaru Zulu or maybe something from Mystery Ranch if I can figure out that they really will hold up.

MR just got a MASSIVE contract with Naval Special Warfare Command, for SEALS, EOD and other Navy Special Operations teams.

So, on the MR zipper system, as I understand it, you can either: Unzip the two top zippers and it is like a top loader or Unzip just the vertical zipper and access contents from the front without unzipping the 2 top zippers. Is this correct?

To the OP: this is my favorite go bag/assault bag/3 day pack/whatever. I've had mine for 7 years now. I like it cause it doesn't scream "I'M AN OPERATOR!" but it still holds mags, smokes, blow-out kits and even my MP5 a few times. The stitching did start coming apart at a seam but Patagonia re-stitched it for free. The one thing with messenger style bags, be it this one or Maxpedition, 5.11, TAD, or whomever, once you load it down, it can wear on you if you have to do miles of walking since the load is pulling on one side.

Yeah, messenger style bags are a PITA if you plan on doing anything on foot over distance. I'm no fan of the gearslinger style bags either, once you load them down they're constantly sliding downward and the one shoulder thing offers no support. The first pack with a cross-strap system is going to make BIG bucks-allows for easy access mounting of gear, plus gives the full support of two straps.
