Awhile back on another forum I was introduced to eFoods Global. They sent out food samples for the cost of shipping and handling. They have been laying around for awhile and I finally made one up and it really is pretty darned good. Just made the beef stew and it is pretty tasty with some seasoning. Wondered if anyone else had heard of them or gave them a try?

What I found particularly interesting is that the foods are bagged and portable and have an ungodly shelf life so they would be good for preparedness as well as taking out camping/hiking. All I had to do was add 4 1/2 cups of water to it and cook for 20 minutes. Shelf life on the pack said best by June 8, 2028.

Thought I would check back with them and it seems that their name is now GoFoods Global. Looked around and again found a new free sample packet and just got it for 9.95 S&H. The kit contains:

1 creamy tuscan pasta (4 servings)
1 cheddar chicken rice (4 servings)
1 western potato chowder (4 servings)
3 servings of drinks (one coffee)

Anyway just thought I would check and see what others thought. They have quite a few package deals but before I jumped in I wanted to check out the waters.

Thoughts?

thanks for the tip - i will definitely be looking into these folks to see how their prices compare to emergency essentials & similar preparedness supply companies. (seems like most of their food comes in #10 cans -- not so good for being mobile, so this could be a good alternative if the prices are good)

edit to add: looked at the website -- this is a multi-level marketing outfit. you have to join as an "independent buyer-owner" or purchase through one. I'd love to try their product but have no interest in those kinds of shenanigans.

Yeah after I got the free samples I looked into it a bit more and noticed that. I am not interested in that either but I do like their products and I was really impressed with the shelf like as well. You could really stock up long term like that, I might buy one of their smaller packages and see how far it goes.

Just looked at it and you can purchase as just a retailer. I don't care for the IBO scheme either, but since my daughter is a vegetarian, these seem to be the ticket for backpacking.

So I got my sample pack in and I have to admit, for the 9.99 S%H it looks like a pretty fair deal. Haven't tried any of them yet but I look forward to giving them a try. They have updated their packaging since last year but the product look as good as the last sample batch I got. Will report back on how they taste when I dig into them. Just noticed the expiration date on this batch and it's October 18, 2026.

I do like the idea and having a full meal in a packet that just requires water and heat. Pretty basic and the two I have eaten was not bad at all.

I've been a fan of MRE's since they replaced C-rats, (yes, I've eaten both - and lived on MRE's for a while) but this is definitely a lower weight option for backpacking.
