I'm sure like many of you, I often give knives as gifts, birthdays, Christmas, special occasion.

I have a system I loosely follow. If the person really isn't into knives or tools/outdoors/other traditionally mascaline hobbies I usually gift them a swiss army knife, either an alox pioneer/cadet or a tinker/spartan.

But other people I'll do a buck knife depending on their personality. My local gun store has a large supply of the orange handled buck 110LT knives, so those currently my go to. But in the past I've done the 112 slim select. The bright color makes it not as frightening more camping/hunting/emergency tool that tactical.

Do you have a go to knife that you buy people? I've thought about doing 301s as gifts but just never have.

If a circumstance arises to gift a knife, I often do not have time to special order something just for them. So, I usually give something I already have. My wife just claimed my SAK Alox MiniChamp, so it kind of gifted itself. :p Another relative was going to visit family far away, so I had them take along a 112 and a SAK Ranger for my father in law. I later replaced the 112 with the BCCI Koa version, but have not yet replaced either SAK; still trying to decide on those.

Usually a 110. This summer the pro trainer that I help had two high school boys working that were exceptional. I gifted both of them a 110...their faces lit up, smiles ear to ear. Both had heard of Buck's 110 and were very excited to receive one.

My local wally world still had the 120th 110 for a jackson. I had to buy a few more. They are destined for gifting.

My dad likes a small pocket knife, so I gave him a 505 which he lost. I then bought him a 55 hoping that he would be able to keep up with something a little larger. One of my $21 Walmart 110s is going to my nephew for Christmas this year.

I've given two Vanguards away to two of my very good friends before hunting trips they were going on. Also given away several 110's and two 55's.

I love gifting friends and family with Bucks..Always USA models. Most were web specials of one kind or another but 'special' family would get more expensive ones. KathyJo's Dad got some really nice 112's and Richard my son did too. I had to fight some years but for the guys in my extended family I got to pick lolo! In 2015 the girs told Kathy they wanted one too! Around 2013 on we gave all our band members a Buck for Christmas and had the band name and there names engraved on the blade. I started looking early each year at web blast and specials because of the lead time for engraving. This year I found about 8 of the 120th 110's I was going to give at Christmas but I only have 3 left. The latest given was to my airconditing guy's son. He didn't have a knife on him so I HAD to give him one lolo!
I really like sharing a Buck!20221227_142634.jpg20220707_115552.jpg

Hmmm... I don't usually have a system either. I gave my neighbor a 110 that he really enjoyed. (For a guy who does a lot of yardwork, he spent way too much time struggling to open or cut things with his house keys.) A 303 is probably one of my favorite gifts, because it's one of my favorite knives. Pocket friendly and incredibly handy. A Vic Tinker/Spartan is also a lot of fun for a wide range of people.

55. I’ve given three away so far and they are always a big hit.

I really like this idea! Such a classic looking knife.

The 112 slims are always a hit for GAWs. Small, modern, inexpensive, sheep safe, etc..

This is another great one! Where did you find the different color LT's?

I've given away a lot of 112 Slim Selects, and a handful of Victorinox SAKs. All the nieces and nephews over the years, and anytime one of my four kids needs something for a Christmas gift exchange, they know I have a supply. Consequently, I've probably outfitted half the teen group at church with Buck 112's over the years. :)

I keep giving away my 55, this is my third one. I'll probably give it away, too.

2 years ago I helped a lifelong buddy get his first elk at the age of 52. When we got up to it he admitted to not bringing a knife. Fortunately I had a couple on me. Last summer I stopped by the Buck factory on a road trip back to Wisconsin and picked up a few 112’s. He was given that knife as soon as I saw him so he no longer has an excuse. I also had a custom 112 made for a buddy from the Marines that I’ve known and worked with all of my adult life for his retirement. He also hunts. I’m similar to others, it really depends on what the person is into. Hunters would get something like a 112 or 110. Others may get a Swiss ArmyKnife because they may find some of the tools more useful than an actual blade.
