Yup. My neighbor's knife in post #11 was my last $35 110. Well, my last gift-able one. I kept one for myself, and it gets a lot of use. That was a fantastic deal! When you could still get Buck 110s for $35, the gift decision was pre-determined.

I bought about 20 of the 110's from Walmart online just before the big price hike at the end of 2021. I think I have about 5 left, so 15 were gifted to friends, family, and neighbors. This led to a few of those recipients purchasing many other Buck knives.
A lot of those had nice blonde streaks in the ebony wood.
I thought about it, but have way too many Buck knives now that I hold onto. Have to let some of them go.Did you at least pick the best specimen to keep for yourself?
I could use a tutorial on that.I thought about it, but have way too many Buck knives now that I hold onto. Have to let some of them go.![]()

Yup. Buck makes a strong argument for dark ebony scales. I was trying to come up with a clever pun about dark coffee/dark scales, but I just couldn't. I need to finish my coffee first.I know a lot of people like the blond streaks in the ebony, but I personally prefer the uniform dark ebony scales. Probably because my first 110 from my grandpa way back when has dark uniform scales so that's the image of what a 110 should be in my mind.
Originally the streaks were considered undesirable, but I’ve always liked them. Beautiful examples you have.
You can say you like your coffee and your knife dark and strong, referring to the dark coffee and handles and to the strength of both coffee and knife.Yup.
