First, sorry, no knife pics. We stayed in the main campsite, which is pretty amazing. They've got showers, potable water, and some of the sites have concrete pads for your tents! It's more like a real cheap hotel! However, it was packed pretty tight, and being around a ton of people I didn't know, along with a bunch of kids, I tried to be circumspect.

This is a few of the campsites

We got there kind of late, the sun was setting, but we ran over to check out the 'Valley of the Goblins'

These three guard the road

And just a few pics

We got up early and hike a ways on the 'Curtis Beach' trail to where it overlooked the valley

Then we hiked a ways up the 'Little Wild Horse Canyon'

Then it was time to head out

We took the long way home. First we drove by the Glen Canyon area and stopped by the Hite overlook, looking down onto Lake Powell

Then we drove into the Natural Bridges National Monument

Thanks guys! The folks we camped with were pretty cool, I had a good time. I ended up stashing the Scagel in my pack, it was the lightest:D

Beautiful pics, Walt. Brought back a lot of memories. I was there about 14 years ago. Hands down my favorite place in Utah.

wow.. awesome pics Walt... i love Utah man... it's such a wild looking state... it's been years since i've ben there....

Hey, WD, no place I would want to go - my preferred big 3 - water, rock and trees, but excellent pictures.

I started to ask, "What are these gazebo ey things in this picture, but then realized, that's exactly what they are. Correct?

Yep-every site in the Goblin Valley park has gazebos with benches and a metal fire pit on concrete slabs. Much more civilized than I'm used to;)

Walter,
I'll give you, and any other members thinking about this as a destination, a little tip: there's a free camping pulloff, just past the left turn that you take to get to Goblin Valley State Park. It's nestled in the "foothills" of the San Rafael Swell, right beside a pretty gulch, and there are fire grates and a few restrooms (concrete structures, not portapottys) right there. It's free, and it's only a few miles from Goblin Valley. Just an FYI. I was there 2 weekends ago, so the information is reliable. Very nice country out there. It's nice to have that in my own backyard (<2hours away). Glad you enjoyed yourself.
