I was just at blade Show West, & the Goddards were there -- the Mrs says she is talking w/Sal Glesser about Spyderco bringing back the Goddard Jr. in white micarta. This caused Wayne to wince, since he likes the original black handles, but after some assurances that it would be an ivory micarta rather than linoleum-white, he seemed to come to terms with the idea that it would make a nice gent's knife. I'm advocating for this, maybe in some tasty new steel, b/c that Goddard Jr. is one of my all-time favorite office knives. Fads come & go, but good design is good design!

ZDP would be awesome. Another thought - wonder if Goddard would be ok with a full flat grind? Since small knives are cutters & so don't really need the half-hollow-grind for strength - although I'lll admit it looks great. But a full flat would be wicked!

ZDP's been beaten to death already. Full flat grind, plain edge, Odin's Eye Damasteel would make it a super fine gent's knife. :D

If they slightly modified the scales to make a finger choil, and added jimping to the spine, it would be fantastic.

A full flat grind and dark blue G10 scales would make it perfect :D

I vote for plain and simple, something to be an everyday user. Although I must say that I do prefer the idea of a flat grind.

I have two of the full size Goddards, both in the black FRN. The first one I bought was directly from Wayne and was a 50/50 blade. The second was a PE. Never did get a Jr.

Personally, I wish they'd reintroduce the Goddard so I could get a couple more. They were great user blades and a really good self defense folder. I just don't want to carry mine anymore becasue of the replacement issue. For now, if I want to carry a utility folder I'll go with a Byrd.

Awesome! Ivory micarta is so great looking and it would look amazing on the goddard jr. No ZDP either please.

I will definately get one of these if they are released!

Sal, the Deacon is wise indeed - are you hearkening his call?

Goddard JR, yes to just about any of the suggestions. VG10 flat-grind for corrosion resistance and cutting, or ZDP. An 'ivory' micarta would be wonderful. But anything in this design would be good.

I put my vote in for flat ground Jr in white micarta. We're excited about the sprint run on the Junior because we have so many calls for it.

Wayne,

what do you think about modifying the scales to create a finger choil? I have 3 of the full sized FRN model, and love the blade shape & overall design. I keep wishing it had a finger choil, though.

Hi Wayne,

Thanx for visiting.

Your vote counts most.

Sorry Deacon, no Odin's eye damascus. Maybe STR?

White Micarta. That would definately set it apart. Let us know if it will be a reality. One vote for Wayne.

Didn't expect it Sal, would probably have had a heart attack if came out that way. :o The Goddard Jr. is an elegant and practical knife and will look great in ivory Micarta regardless of the steel. As for STR, if he was willing to make replacement blades and lockbars, I'd have be carrying an undented Odin's Eye Damasteel Stretch LONG ago. ;) :D Still have hope that I'll find someone willing to customize one for me.

Sal, I would like to put my vote in for plain edge.;) One of these in white micarta would be fantastic!

It would be an injustice to suffer a heart attack so close to retirement. Sal is just looking out for ya. ;):p

I'm bouncing around with excitement, a la Homer Simpson "white micarta & flat ground! White micarta & flat ground!!" LOVE that knife -- even the pic of the original nearly made me tear up w/fond nostalgia. (PS I see no benefit to a choil on the Junior size)

Any type of new Goddard are the best possible news for me. Why? Just take a look on the pictures... :D
But a C18 in ivory micarta... Can't believe! Yes! Yes! Yes! :D :D :D
