Anyone have any recommendations as to protective eyewear for keeping out the metal particles while grinding? I wear Glasses so this complicates things. I was thinking maybe something sort of like motorcycle over the glasses type goggles.

I'd check out your local industrial safety supply. The one near here has just about everything you could want for very reasonable costs. The staff is also pretty knowledgeable.

When I'm wearing my glasses, I use a pair of safety goggles (Stanley I think..) They seem to fog up pretty quick though. When I'm wearing contacts, I use an AO Safety full face respirator. I think I saw somewhere that they make an insert for the full face that lets you use them with eyeglasses. Not at home now, or I'd go through the documentation.

Try a face shield works good with glasses.

Face shield works great. I do not wear glasses but still like a face shield as it lends a bit more protection. I can also just flip it up out of the way if not grinding.

Kind of like Chuck. I've got prescription polycarbonate bifocals with big lenses, top and side shields. The archetypal chastity glasses -- but I can see with them on almost as well as my regular glasses.

HANDS DOWN... THESE

I bought mine at Enco, but I was having trouble getting their link to work.

Take it from someone who has had their eyeball carved on TWICE to get metal slivers out AND WAS wearing safety glasses both times!!!!!

I HATE the regular old high school science class goggles.

These are totally different. Very comfortable, and great protection.

For about $12... they are WELL worth the money. Without insurance, I paid about $350 each time I had my eye carved on

Seeing is nice. Breathing is better. Both is best. get a full face respirator.

Rob!

Are the face shields in a full-face respirator rated as safety "lenses" (US ANSI Z.87.1 or equivalent)? I couldn't find that information.

Nick that is basically what I am after. My only question about them is will the fit over prescription glasses?

+1 on the faceshield. My whole face and neck is protected when I wear one. Pretty as I am, I'm not takin any chances :D
