It is with a somewhat heavy heart that I am announcing the end of Dream Burls and my retirement from the wood business.
When I started this trip over four years ago, it was based on the recognition that there was a nice profit margin to be made by buying slabs of wood, cutting them and finishing them to sell as blanks. It worked very well for a while until about a couple of years ago when my suppliers started to reach the same conclusion I had and went from being suppliers to competitors. Nothing wrong with competition, but my supply chain was severely diminished.
The other side of my decision to call it quits is a matter of health. About a year ago I suffered a heart attack. In fact, it occurred while I was cutting slabs on the bandsaw. How's that for dedication? I've had a full recovery, but I'll be turning 70 this August and the arthritis in my hands is not getting any better.
My heartfelt thanks also goes out to all of you who have supported Dream Burls over the years. It's been a really fun ride. And to show my appreciation as I ride into the sunset I'm have a final sale right now where everything in the store (www.dreamburls.com) is 50% off when you use the coupon BYEBYE on checkout. My inventory is not that deep, but you may find somethings you like.
So to all of you I wish you the best in love, light, peace and joy. Stay sharp and as always, IMAGINE THE POSSIBILIES!
