My wife and I got home safe and sound last night, the trip was great.
Gus, better than I expected.
We got there late Thursday night and checked into the hotel. My wife was very impresed that you could open the windows, (she's easily impressed).
Friday we went on a tour of Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home and school of architecture. It was simply amazing. I've always liked the photos I've seen of his work, but to be in his home and see his desk where he worked is not to be missed. Around every corner there is something that's surprising and beautiful. If I ever make it back I would like to see it at sunset.
We couldn't see it at sunset this time because we had a party to go to. At 5PM buses arrived to take about 75 of us to the MacDonald Ranch for a western theme party. The buses dropped us at the trail head where hay wagons took us to the campsite. "Tequila Sheila" greeted us with shot glasses and a bottle of tequila, the kind of girl that just wouldn't take no for an answer, not that I said no. Campfires, a singing cowboy on horseback, open bar, hors d'oeuvres while we watched to sun go down.
We then retired to the barn for dinner, a country western band and line dancing. As soon as you walked into the barn there were a couple of young ladies that had a camera, lights and background setup to take your picture. They had hats and clothes and props to help you look more period.
Here's the pic of my wife and I, hats and guns aren't ours.
It was a fun night.
Next morning it was back on the buses for a two hour drive upto Sedona. Here we all split up and spent the day as we wanted. My wife and I did a littl window shopping and then decided to take a a Jeep tour and see the Oak Canyon Drive as suggested earlier. The views were spetacular. Our driver Mario was a native and was a wealth of info. We could have easily spent a week just touring the area around Sedona.
I've seen tons of pics online of Sedona and I don't think that my personal pics can compare, but I think you might find this pic interesting. While walking around window shopping my wife needed to use the restroom. We saw this sign for restrooms with an arrow pointing down this narrow alley between two buildings. This was the view from the end of the alley by the restrooms.
I've heard of a room with a view, but never a restroom with a view.
